I bought it from best buy today because I want a rpg game. Debated for the longest between that and fire emblem & ocarina of time, but decided to get BD because it was released in NA on my birthday ( late bday present for myself haha) however the game has mixed reviews from critics and players, as people complained about the dialogues and the repetiveness. Now I'm hesitant to even open it because once I do that I won't be able to return it lol ( if I don't end up likening it)

For those who own a copy or have played it before. How's your experience with the game?

After chapter 4 it starts to repeat. A lot. I can't tell you why because spoilers.
Though the gameplay is still fun.
Plot isn't anything special, characters aren't too unique.
It's okay, but the best part is the gameplay.

I agree with this, but even the gameplay started to bore me after a while. I haven't even completed chapter 5.

It's my favorite game for the 3DS. It gets a little repetitive starting chapter five but it's a lot faster to get through. You can adjust the rate you encounter enemies as well, plus the difficulty level, so you aren't forced into random encounters if you don't want them, and if you need to grind for experience or money you can set it up really high. There's also an auto battle mode so you'll keep doing the same attacks every turn for every battle until you stop it, so if you need to grind it's really easy. I did it while watching stuff because all I needed to do was run in circles and glance down every now and then to make sure nobody was dead. You can turn off exp gain (as well as a few other things) in case you find yourself leveling up too much.

The music is great, it looks pretty good, I liked all of the characters (but especially Edea and Ringabel), and like I said, it's my favorite game on the 3DS and one of my favorite RPGs.

I played the demo and was "meh" about it. Then I played the demo for Fire Emblem: Awakening, loved it and got that one instead. I'm having a lot of fun with it, even though I've never played such a game before. :)

I really wanted to like Bravely Default, but I had no idea what I was doing and I found it quite frustrating. Now, I know that the game does a better job at explaining what you're supposed to do (compared to the demo), but I hesitated in buying it (because like you said; once you've opened it, you can't return it). Reading what other people have to say, I'm glad now I didn't buy it because if it's indeed that repetitive, I would loose interest very quickly. :(

Pretty funny seeing opinions of the game now. This time last year people were pretty much begging for it to be localized. IMO its definitely worth the purchase maybe not at full price for some but I say go for it. Its definitely the best Final Fantasy game, even though it isn't one, to have come out in a long time.

It was pretty hyped and I was new to the series. I loved the demo and the gameplay up until about the millionth repetition. Then exams were nearing and I just decided to give up and now sell it.
