I'm freaking out here...

I've got a Gift Card for Chapter/Indigio (Canadian equivalent of Barnes & Noble) and I obviously want a book...[I've got no idea where to ask it, obviously not at any nsider forums...]

Expect that I want to read a new book...unlike anything I've read before.

But, the thing is, I can't just jump in and read the first book I find...It has to interest me.

Anyone know of books that would fit my interest?

I'd like a Sci-fi...or Fantasy-type novels.

Time Travel, Dragons...stuff like that.

but, if you can't help me, then please point me to some place that could quickly.
I know I could check all the books listed on the website...but that'd take forever.
(Btw, if there happens to be a book that in any way could resemble Fire Emblem games, I would almost literally worship the ground you walk upon)

Please and Thank You.

have you read a hitch hikers guide to the galaxy?
I would highly suggest that, if you get the ultimate version it includes all the later books in the series.

umm also Ender's game is an excellent sci fi novel, has 8 books total actually 4 following the character ender and 4 following a different kid called Bean in the first book. The first one is definitely good the other books are pretty good too but not the same.

I just read a book called The Road. It's fiction... Iono if I'd call it sci-fi or anything though... it's about a post-apocalyptic world where a dad and his son are looking to find a safe place, and working as hard as possible to stay alive in the horrible conditions... unbelievable story.

those are the same 2 books my best friend recommended to me to read. coinincidence? i think not! iv'e heard they are both great books anyway

I can't help you with fantasy (I hate that *CEN-2.0-SORD*). Michael Crichton has written some great fiction (I wouldn't call it sci-fi, though), including the well known Jurassic Park. The Hitchhiker's Guide is easily my favorite fiction series, but generally I don't like or read fiction.

Is there any timely issue that interests you? The most recent nonfiction book I read outside of school was Born to Buy (look it up on Amazon.com.) It examines marketing practices used by all sorts of companies to make their products appeal to children. Very scary in my opinion.

Yeah. Prey, Timeline, and Andromeda Strain are amazing too.

Sci-Fi?

Read Michael Crichton's books. They're amazing.
I've read one of his books, stopped reading after 50 pages it was so horrible. Airtram or something, no idea why I picked it. If you haven't read the Artemis Fowl series try that, it's a great series.

Oh, Airframe? It was okay, not his best work. Try another one of his books.

I will, since I really have nothing to read at the moment.

Pendragon.
Who's the author?

Because, I get several different books called 'Pendragon' when I search their site.
DJ MacHale (or something like that, I haven't read 'em in a while)

Just check Justin's links...

Pendragon was a good series until I reads the Sword of Truth series. The first book is Wizard's First Rule. The director of the Spiderman movies is making a TV mini series on it. Check it out, you will not be let down.

The author is Terry Goodkind.

The Dragon and the George.
It's got dragons AND time travel. And it's like a 8-book series or something.

Which sucks, cause I just found that out. I read the first two books, and then the last two. I thought that the author was just being weird with the ******** gap between the second and third book.... >_>

Now I know.
