Bank Interest Limit

Just wondering if there's a limit of sorts on the monthly interest from the bank since today I got a letter (yeah, not played since late March) saying 99,999 Bells of interest was added to my account.

This number looks to me as if 99,999 Bells of interest is the limit. Is that the case?

Presumably when it says "total" that just means for the month rather than some crazy accumulative figure.

99K is the cap on interest you will receive. If I remember correctly, it's 5% of your balance (up to 99K) on the first of the month.

0.5%, but yeah. Now I sort of feel like moving money back to my other profiles but 297K a month isn't a big deal.

In my spare town 4 players received that letter and no players got the bells. All Players have 100,002,500 in their accounts.
They have that balance for 6 months.
