If visiting another village are they unable to be caught with gate open? Much like bees.

I don't believe they are affected by other people. The only insects affected by other people are those that attack or otherwise interact with the player. Basically anything that targets the player and chases them will not appear in multiplayer, probably because Nintendo don't want people having a trail of tarantulas behind them and then having the other player just nab them.

So as far as I'm aware the only insects affected are:
-Bee
-Scorpion
-Tarantula


Not sure about mosquito.
