I knew this would happen ever since I first EVER reset, many resets ago. I don't know how many I'm on now, I've lost count. I always manage to find something wrong with my town - usually the layout. There's just always SOMETHING. I once burnt out when I first started by TT'ing all of the time, which totally ruined the fun for me, and now I never do. I also think I like the fun of starting afresh, and I want nothing more than to have my brain wiped completely clean of New Leaf and come at it completely fresh again.

Is anyone else like this? It's such an annoying habit.

I was always like this before.
had my current town since July.. but i do plan to reset eventually to keep the game fresh

I know the TT restart syndrome, I felt that way too. I wanted to restart because of all that TTing, I just had to, wanted to not start TTing again. I have to suffer doing all the beginning stuff first before I get to do all the PWPs and stuff. It makes me feel so excited to do all that stuff but I have to go day by day to get there and it'll be forever! I have to TT for that. (Man, if only I didn't TT in June. :()

You know, I have this syndrome too.
But I decided to do a year around challenge, starting on the first of januari.
You should join :3. You are kinda stricted to one town to complete the challenge :P.

Woohoo Im glad Im not alone with this. Resetters unite!

I would have loved to join with this had I knew, BUT! I restarted today, surprise surprise, and I think I have a map which I like and not bad villagers. Also, my rules of resetting are pretty much exactly the same as yours in your blog post. So Im I guess Im doing it... Just a week early!

Good luck! ^-^ I don't seem to suffer with this problem... I restarted once in August because I hated my town map and I'd been TTing which I worried would take the fun out of it haha - I haven't reset since as I made sure I was 100% sure that I was happy with my new town

The problem is that EVERY time I reset I always try and make sure Im happy with my town, and I always think that I am, but I guess I'm not trying hard enough. They start to all look the same when choosing from Rover at the beginning after resetting about 20 times. >_<

This was literally me on AC:WW.....
I'm re-setting my town in a couple of days, and I'm hoping this doesn't happen to me again.... it probably will, this happens on every game like this I play. The Sims, AC, etc.
I play for ages on my original town, then re-set and keep re-setting! D:

I sometimes consider resetting as well, but it's more of a "I want to start over again, because everything feels fresh and new then", rather than being unhappy with my lay-out or such. Which is actually the main reason why I will not reset again; while rolling through maps on the train with Rover I saw several times variations of the same map, but I found only once the one I have now. Still, the idea of resetting does cross my mind every now and then, but I tell myself that when it becomes too much of a siren call that I'll just go play Pok?mon X for a while (I really should continue playing that game, anyway, I still haven't gotten any further than my first badge!).

I actually want to get a new copy of animal crossing. I am sick of my town now, but I learned twice now, to never delete your original town... Since it is the original you miss it and want to see it again but cant. Thats why I got a new copy of ACWW and a new memory card for AC Gamecube. I reset my original town on ACCF and miss it. Did it twice after keeping the second map for like a year and a half.

So you're out of the resetting loop?
That's great. I nearly got in it on Christmas Eve after resetting a lot, but I didn't give up and I found a great town! :D

I don't have this problem.. the only thing I was looking for in my town was to have 1 pond, which I got without resetting once. c:
I'm extremely happy with my town and I will never reset.

I'd have preferred one pond in my current town, but I wasn't going to bother resetting again, everything else was perfect for me. Plus, ponds don't bother me to an extent.

I can see why resetting can be addictive. I've only reset twice so far, and intend to keep my main town for as long as possible. If I want an alternative town, I'll use one of my other copies (which so far I've only used to cycle for dreamies).

Personally, I found it helped to decide in the beginning what it is exactly you're willing to compromise on and the things you NEED in your town. For me, I had to have my ideal layout: a mostly straight river with only one bend, the town hall and plaza aligned together at the top of the map, Re-Tail as close to the beach as possible and peaches as my town's fruit. Preferably, I would have liked circle grass and better starting villagers but I had to accept that it was unlikely I would find these along with my other preferences above. Also, the amount of ponds and rock placement... another compromise. But I can live with it. Starting villagers never bother me, I know they can easily be replaced.

The weird thing is, I'd already spent about half a day resetting by this point and although I was sick to death of Rover, I still felt a little excitement each time before I went through the maps. Usually followed by disappointment at having to reset yet again, but still strange.

I don't reset as I don't want to lose my progress, but I've seen others who seem to reset a lot.
I've considered resetting when my town seems to get boring or unworkable, but I power through it just by thinking rationally. I have rares, I have some of my dreamies, so why would I reset? It works for me.
Buuuut, you can play the game any way you want, so even if you consider the habit annoying, if that's what you wanna do then sure.

I'm so happy I reset my original town. The only thing I could think of that upset me about resetting at the time was that I almost had all my Dreamies. But ugh my original town layout was the worst, the river was literally a straight line across! And my Dreamies were all in terrible spots and I just couldn't do anything to my town. I've never had "reset fever" as I've only reset like 3 times to get this map. Anyways don't worry about it being perfect, even the mayors of those amazing dream towns have stuff they dislike about their town.

I do. I'm itching to reset but I won't. When I have practically done all the game and I get bored I will reset.

I've never reset or TT..>_> I think it takes the fun/meaning out of the game.

I also have the habit to reset after a couple of time. It's not because I don't like my town any more, it's because I love the feeling when the map I wanted finally is popping up in the train, the feeling when everything is new and exciting.
Honestly, I hate this habit and I always try not to restart... I mean, I even search for the same town layout again when I restart! I know it's useless if I search for the same layout again, but I can't resist.
I have had at least 25 towns and I resetted at least 2000 times on the train...
Now I have got a town which would be a pity to reset. I really hope that this is the town I will keep forever. I want to get rid of this bad habbit and in this town I see no reason for resetting.
