Actually, I have been excited for
Splatoon since its reveal at E3, at a time when, as indicated in
an interview with the development team, the game was only approximately 10% done. And the more information that came out about Splatoon, the more convinced I was that the game was inspired, creative, fun; I was likening it to
Jet Grind Radio.
My major concern at this time is how much content the game starts with. There has been assurances by Nintendo for significant post-launch free and paid DLC and patches. If Nintendo delivers in this regard as they have with
Hyrule Warriors, I believe consumers will be quite pleased with the product, though there is the risk of delivering too little, too late, as many felt happened with
Titanfall. In other words, I agree with reviewers who said much may rest on how Nintendo handles post-launch support for
Splatoon.
