Are we ever going to receive a new update?

Oh… That's unfortunate… :/
I don't know why, but i feel the game can still use more things. Don't misunderstand me, i'm not trying to complain for what it have which is already great. I just think they could add a couple of more things.

I hope so. My copy is digital (couldn't get to store to get physical one) but I'd love the peace of mind physical media brings. I still buy all my Pokemon games physical.
I wonder if there will be anymore bug fixes? Are there any more noticeable bugs to patch at this point?

There is no new update coming anytime soon. Nintendo made it crystal clear that there would be no more "major" updates after the 2.0 update came out. They said this since last year in November 2021. In a IGN article they did clarify that they will still support the game with "small" changes and updates, but they go on to say that they have "no plans" for another major update.

Whenever people tell me that they are still doing updates or have a chance because they said last major thats a lie. They said last major which means no more BECAUSE both Splatoon 2 and Mario Maker 2 had the "Last Major Update" and since then only got bug fixes. I know we got the Gyroid on the beach thingie but that is the equivalent to when they updated Splatoon 2's Splattershot to have an extra 1% of damage. ONLY BUG FIXES LEFT! Except there are pretty much no bugs so I guess none nowie........

I honestly don't think so aside from a few bug fixes here and there. It's been complete silence from Nintendo on this game ever since they dropped 2.0.

For some reason the English said last major update. But from what I remember the original Japanese said last update. The English seems like it was confusing, not sure why they translated it that way (maybe they thought the bug fix type stuff would be confusing for English speakers if they said just no more updates?).
In any case, though there always would have been things I wanted to have added to the game (ie more villager plots), and it was always going to be bittersweet to have the updates for the game end, I love the game as it is, and I expect to still be happily playing for a long time to come (though I would also feel completely satisfied if I put it down tomorrow and never played again. I’ve spent 2500 hours playing, and gotten many many times my expected enjoyment and value out of it.)
It’s natural for the game to be completed and for the company to move on to focusing on other games, so I don’t really feel like it is any sort of sign of not caring about the game or not being invested in the franchise. But i understand the disappointment, of course, of having something you’ve been anticipating come to an end, or of wishing they would just add that one particular feature that is particularly important to you.

Wow it isn't going to be updated ever? Sheesh I thought they would at least do another paid update. No doubt people would hop on that. I'd assume we'll get something a few years down the line like when NL got the camping update. Dang this is really a let down.

Despite the fact that the community would like to see this game continue to have stuff added too it, I don't think it's happening. Nintendo has made it pretty clear they could care less about this game now. I don't why they bothered making it in the first place if they were gonna give up so fast. I would rather just not have a new ac game at all but anyways. I'm grateful for what we do have before someone tries to attack me.

NH got way more attention and love than 90% of the other Nintendo titles, the devs really went out and dropped a whole new game on top of the base game on the last update, so I'm more than fine with no more updates ever.
Excited to see future projects for the team, hope they can keep sharing their love and passion like they did with NH.

Totally agree, no previous game ever got the treatment that NH got ... Before, you bought the game on day one and that was it !! The closest we ever came before was the WA update for NL, and that was one update after four years !! I got the game on launch day and I'm still playing every day [I'm playing right now actually], there are still things I want to do and get, and I really do think this is the best one yet

I think they are done with free updates. Everything else (i.e. Happy Home Paradise) costs money. But I won't rule out the possibility of a new free update; this game is still popular, and players won't be abandoning it any time soon. (Or ever, ideally....)

This video was recently uploaded to explain the reason about the future updates and how it was "taken out of context"
I actually expected to have been supported for a few more years to be honest and i am in equal parts disappointed and sad but in overall happy to have the game I am not really complaining but truly believe they could have been giving us updates for a bit more ( even monetary updates ) to further improve and deepen the game. But still having fun so i guess its pretty good
