Looks like it. If you check the twitter hashtag #achappyhome, you'll see a TON of images of players wearing hats, glasses, the ducky beak, shamrock hats, etc. etc.

And according to the guide that tumblr user macaron-designer is creating with another person, you will have the option to use hairstyles of any gender. To quote their page on the subject:

You can change your appearance at any time (including hairstyles of the opposite gender) once you’ve unlocked the Blue Machine upstairs. You unlock it through a lesson that costs 5 Play Coins.

Ooo, this is exciting. I have maximum play coins right now since I don't use them often on other games because I don't care for the prizes. Now I'll have a use for them. I can't wait for this game now
