Are there any non-dreamies that ended up being a fav more than your actual dreamie?

this is crazy because i’ve always been like “audie is queen” “audie best new villager” blah blah then the time i was hunting for villagers, i got judy after 20 tickets and decided to just take her instead (i didn’t have a snooty anyway). so yeah, she’s on my island now and i’ve already said here how she was much better “in person” than how the pics portray her.

then suddenly my peppy left and i happened to come across someone giving audie in boxes. i was like this is a jackpot. fast forward to now, i realize i can’t get rid of judy. not that i felt bad, but i’ve just gotten fond of her design. i don’t find her eyes weird anymore.

in this game, i believe you’ll never really know who will become your favorites until you met them. this is why i was never really a fan of tiers & popularity this or that. because at the end of the day, you’ll follow your own.

same here i don’t think i’ll keep her forever, as i’d wanna have other snooties too but yeah she’s superrr cute! like her eyes was really a hot topic, a lot of people thought her eyes was creepy as it looked fake, but weirdly it isn’t like that in game.

i mean i did say i can’t let her go, but really i was planning to give her away when i finally get audie. but looks like it isn’t happening anytime soon.

I think I have to say Merry and Kiki they are adorable and sweet and they weren’t a dreamie I just had the extra room and had gotten my dream villagers and took them I have no regrets

I got Antonio as a random islander, and was OK with him staying for a while since he kind of fits my theme. However he is now one of my favourite of all time. I love his striped arms, they look so cool with a bunch of different outfits. His catchphrase, 'honk,' is very funny, and he acts generally friendly on my island~

NH is my third AC game. I don't go into any of these games thinking I must have this villager or that villager. I do know which ones I like because I find their designs attractive, so I'll invite those when I get the chance and then, depending on how we interact, I end up with some villagers who become permanent residents. But, even the permanent residents in a previous game don't become "dreamies". I mean, I don't search in particular for them. They are not must-haves. I'm beginning to sound very weird to myself... and I don't think my reply even qualifies as an answer to your question.

So far in NH I have a few residents that I'm very fond of and can say that they will not leave my island in the forseeable future. Rolf, for instance. I had him in NL. Also Tangy. I never had her but she's grown on me. She'll be my permanent resident peppy. Claude is the big surprise though. I never thought a bunny or a lazy personality would move me. In previous games, I was fond of neither. I still don't consider bunnies (or any species) a favourite but I've become ridiculously fond of the lazy personality. (I now have 3 of them on my island. )

I am in total agreement with you here. I think NH is such a vast improvement in graphic quality that a lot of the animals look so much better now than ever before. Even the ones I didn't think were attractive before in previous games, I now have to revise my opinion when I meet them on mystery islands. There are so many that I like now, and I'm more determined than ever to meet and invite as many of them as I can to my island so that we can share our lives together, if only for a happy little while.

Dreamies are top tier villagers where someone made a list to rank them all. I never bothered looking who is hot or not. In New Leaf I thought I was going to dislike Hazel at first, but she grew on me. Same thing with Frita. A small squirrel with a uni-brow and a burger and fry sheep, who would had thought.

The villagers in this game are extremely lacking though. So it kind of is based off looks for everyone at this point and that is kind of disappointing.

yup exactly how i was with katt, who is now my favorite sisterly.
i found that cats were so much cuter when they were small and round, but boy they did get a lot of improvement. even tho i already like most of them in the first place, but i just agree how the acnh graphics made everything much better.

I’m pretty sure ‘dreamies’ is just a short version of ‘dream villager’ so I don’t think the tier list comes into it, except for those people who base their favorites on the tier lists. The tier lists are popular villagers. ‘Dreamies’ are people’s particular favorites.

I disagree that villagers are lacking in this game in particular, and thus is popularity is now based only on looks. But of course the first part is a very subjective judgement, and I accept that they are lacking for you.

I think the popularity list has always been determined by appearance though. (I think even if each villager had completely individualized dialogue it would be)

I’m fairly sure that even in pre-NL games, where the dialogue seems to have had more options, diversity, etc, it was still based on personality, not unique to each villagers, so preferences within a personality type were still based on the look of the villager, not that there is anything wrong with that. And I’m not invalidating preferences either; sometimes when you like the look of the villager, or how they emote, or just something clicks for you, it makes the dialogue work differently/ better.

For example, I don’t think I particularly like the smug personality, but when it is my little graham, I find it much more charming!

Wade and Ava were random move ins. I love them! I don’t really have dreamies though. I usually let them come and go as the game pleases.

Oh, shoot, I made my whole post and didn’t even answer the main question. For me i still don’t know all my favorites, but this is exactly what happened with Bangle! I invited her from a mystery island as my first peppy, and was very ambivalent about it, I planned to replace her fairly soon. But one day I just realized that I loved her and that having her on my island made it more fun! And now she is never leaving!

Olaf! He was forced upon me as my first campsite villager, but he quickly became one of my favorites. I've also grown to like Peck a lot. I found him on an island while looking for a jock, and his completely white eyes kind of disturbed me at first, but I'm glad I decided to invite him.

I found Vivian and Peanut on mystery islands while I was pouring over Amiibos on eBay and developing an ideal lineup and now I literally can’t imagine this game without them even though they weren’t on my radar. Like, I know it sounds silly, but fate put some of my favorite villagers in my path and I consider myself very fortunate.

I've had a thing about AC games since the beginning...each iteration I need to at least try 1 new villager from each species, more for me to just admire the updates to their designs. With this method, I've ended up with favorites I never thought I'd have.

For example, right now my favorite cranky is Rooney and my favorite Uchi is Renee...both names you almost never seen on any 'looking for' lists.

I found Lucky on a mystery island and took him because I had an open slot and I was down to my last NMT. He wasn't on my planned list of villagers (I was going for a tropical-ish theme) but after a few days I found I just couldn't let him go,,Now he's one of my permanent villagers and I've added a spooky area onto my island just for his house

Bluebear she showed up at my campsite and now she's a permanent resident! love her. I had bought Flora's amiibo and she was going to be my permanent peppy, but I eventually let her go and kept Bluebaby

I don’t have dreamies, but Tank was one of my starters and at first I hated him and wanted him to leave as soon as possible. Now though, I don’t ever want him to leave even though he’s stuck with a basic house. He’s really grown on me and I feel like he belongs on my island since we started it together.

I just have two favorites, so the rest of 8 will all be a surprise on who stays permanently.

But something that fits this topic, my sister had Pancetti randomly move in and dressed her like a hoochie mama. Then I drew Pancetti for the TBT dream sequence. So now I'm like, "Should I have her on my island?" lol

Yeah, Judy lol. I found Judy randomly on a mystery island very early in the game and invited her with the sole intension of giving her away/selling her online. Little did I know she would become a dreamy of mine/permanent resident lol.

I wasn't draw to her at all in the beginning because her design wasn't really my style, but in the end she is just so dang cute and I can't imagine my island without her!!
