The reason I ask that is because I have people ask for my friend code all the time when I just met them, sometimes they don't even speak English! would you guys trust them? I don't want random strangers screwing around in my town, especially since I am using a new 3ds so I can't just flick the switch I physically have to go to my home and shut it off and when your in multiplayer you can't. Opinions?

Not worth it unless you made a bond with that person. A lot of people I met on CT I end up deleting later on because they dont listen to me when I tell them not to run in my town (since it haves a lot of flowers in it), I have a lot of stuff on the ground. or they just dont talk to me anymore. If you are going add random people, just make sure you follow them constantly and get any valuable items off the ground before you let them in your town.

I agree. I trust people that I meet on the forums a lot more than people I meet at CT, just because it's a lot easier to communicate with people here and make sure you're on the same page.

Definitely not. I usually just leave if I see someone else on the island.

I wouldn't leave, I'd talk to them and if they ask for a friend code just don't give it to them...I guess leaving works too

like others, I guess that's really why I'm on here.. I feel people on forums are more trustworthy.

Eh, depends. I've added 3 people on there, all girls.

Except I asked one of those girls to hold my stuff because I restarted and I guess she restarted.
My hair bow wig was gone. Btw this was before I came to TBT.

Man, that stinks. I almost gave mine away once good thing I can't remember things like that lol.

I've been on CT recently and so far, some people have been trusting, haven't invited them to town yet, but we did some tours together and it was fun :)

but i have heard of people stealing from other people and that made me extremely nervous when i did trades, so i have a rule "unless i know you, i will follow you around when visiting my town" I have the N3DS so i can no longer flick the switch if i see someone acting suspicious, you have to now do a hard shutdown, meaning you'll have Resetti talking to you after the fact...

Btw, off topic, is this the right section of the forum to check peoples FC's? because i have some people on my FC list and i don't remember who they are anymore (they were people that i did trades with >.> and i forgot to write them down DX)

i usually never talk to people on club tortimer. if they start talking to me i'll say hi and stuff but not much else.. im there to buy stuff and catch some bugs, not to make friends

I only played on club tortimer a few times when I first got the game. They all tend to be annoying children.
Tortimer clearly is the type of creature to lend his name to faulty products though, so it's to be expected.

It depends really. I've met a few people on there that I've added as friends and we would do fun things together. And then I've met people who weren't very considerate at all. If you're one of those people who are afraid of others destroying your town, stealing, etc. then I'd be a little more careful. Not all people are bad though.

I trust 5% of club tortimer players. The other percent I just tell them I'm not interested. Ive met a few friends on club tortimer but after a horrible experience of theivery, I've let like 1 CT person ever since then.

It really depends. Some people are trustable but a lot just aren't.

If someone immediately asks for your friend code, don't trust them; usually they stealing items and hybrids, from my personal experience anyway. However, this isn't always the case, but just to be safe always follow them and make sure to pick up any bells and expensive items off of the ground. If they run out of your sight, don't try to turn off wifi, because you can't and just turn off your DS.

If they ask for your FC after a few tours and you've talked a little, then yeah, go for it. But when you invite new people into town ALWAYS be careful. Only let them run free if you trust them, and they've been to your town a few times and nothing's bad has happened.

I've made a few good friends thanks to Club Tortimer, but sadly, I don't talk to a lot of them any more. CT can be a good way to make friends, which is what it was made to do. So, only give them your FC if you have a bond with the and be wary for the first few times and you should be okay.

What's Club Tortimer?

I hope you don't get lost in my words but I'll explain the best i can

It's an online multiplayer that allows you to play with other players without a FC, you register at your own personal island by talking to the grandma kappa (after you select the parchment that you see in front of her.)

(Also if you don't have medals, see how much she wants and if you don't have enough, do some tours by talking to Leia) you can now go beyond your island and go to the North America CT Island or the International CT Island.

After you get that parchment (now its been a while since I've bought my registration) you'll have to go back to your town and talk to him again if you want to go to the other islands (essentially, a 2,000 bell trip)

Kapp'n will ask you "Say now, who might ye be spendin' yer time with on the island?" you select 'Other travelers' and then select which island you want to go to, he'll now take you to the island you selected.

Make sure you have internet or you'll wont be able to go

Thing is, its completely random and its no grantee that you'll see the same person again.

Before I discovered TBT, I used to occasionally ask for FCs from Club Tortimer players, because I didn't know how else to quickly obtain FCs. However, I never thought badly of people turning me down, as I know the risks too.
I have never had negative experience, and I don't know how you would tell the good form the bad, but I apologize for anyone I ever made uncomfortable by asking for FCs on the island!

I actually did meet a very nice girl from Japan while at the island, we started talking and she liked a lot of the same music I do and so we traded friend codes and visited each other's towns. That was a pretty good experience for my third time visiting with random people considering the first time someone said "wOw ur ugyl" and disconnected and the second person said "geT out tHe waY, hOme slIcE" and scared away every bug I tried to catch.
