So lately I've been lining my paths with flowers and just dreaming of a forest wonderland xD When I woke up today and opened acnl I noticed that from the stone tile on the front of the train station a little path was starting to show up and I was leaping with joy :D I'm trying not to time travel at all in my game because I'm pretty known for that now lol. But really...how much time overall does it take to get full dirt paths wherever you line up your paths? I've herd that some people have invested more than a year into dirt paths and getting results, but Ive herd the upkeep is exhausting, however they are in a way fun to work on from my own experience from seeing results :) I know there's a blog out there with an Q&A about dirt paths but I wanted to personally know from those who have had dirt paths or know something about it...how long did it take you and are they worth it in the end?

Opinions appreciated <3

They look nice but they're a ton of work to upkeep. If you stop using some part of your paths as much, grass will start to grow back and will mess it up. Personally I would not bother. I would just make or find QR codes of paths that look like dirt paths if that was the look I wanted.

I dunno, i didnt set out to have dirt paths, they just evolved where the most foot-traffic takes place. If you want to speed up the process, I guess you could run through the areas where you want the grass to wear down...

I find that starting dirt paths is more work than up keeping them personally. Once the paths are even slightly visible, it's just a matter or running on them at least once a day. It's getting started that requires lots and lots and lots and lots of running. I find that running a path a couple times, saving and quitting, then running it again in the same day- can yield some fast results rather than taking just your average running of the day.

I learned a lot about making my dirt paths from here- http://ellesanimalhaven.tumblr.com/post/84893063583/here-is-an-update-on-kokoros-dirt-paths-this-is

Her dirt paths are excellent. I followed her advice and now mine are just as good as what you can see in her Dream Address I'd say. It took me about two weeks to get paths as good as what is found pictured on the Tumblr link I posted. I think it's way worth it. I have a lot of room for patterns now. Lovely clothes, wallpapers, furniture customizations and such.

I actually think it's too easy to make grass wear out lmao.... If you just run over there a few times every day it'll stay there. wlking makes it not go away either..
I have had so much dirt in my town because when I started playing I ran everywhere and it took weeks of having flowers which I watered every day for them to even start going away. Now I don't water the flowers anymore and I try to not walk on the areas but honestly it still takes so long for it to grow back, so honestly I think you're pretty safe ):

if you want a natural look then i dont see why not. though they are a pain in the ase to create and keeping them maintained.

I've always had dirt paths. They can be trouble to keep up but if you play regularly then you'll be fine. I love that I know that I can run straight down from my train station to the beach so I run that route regularly and that section is the most defined bit of my paths.

I run a time travel nature shop but I really want my town to be organic: foresty, lots of nature, rain and dirt paths (◜◡◝).

They look nice, but are way too much effort. Not worth it. And I read that the grass regrows after the snow melts in winter, so you'll have to keep doing it. Maybe look for a qr path that looks like dirt. There are some nice ones out there.

Thanks for everyone's opinions, suggestions and help, it has eally affected my thought on what I will choose in the end. I think for now I'm going to try to see what they are like to have...if they are too hard to keep up I'll say screw it and put qr code paths or stepping stones on them xP

oh my, those are so amazing....I think I was just inspired to do it anyway, despite the work because that looks just like how I Want my town to look once I start landscaping! I was wondering....if you were to put down dirt qr code path, and then run it, over time would a natural path develop? I know the patterns slow the grass wear, at least that is what I have heard but not tested enough.

To be honest, dirt paths are messy. I don't really like them, but if you're going for a nature theme, I'd say that's the best choice. Clover paths are cute too.

I love dirt paths, maybe try to make it a 3 by 3 path with flowers outlining it, than try to put cobblestone designs on there to give it a nice feel of nature. :)
Tbh tho, it's allot of work, so you need to run on it pretty often, like every day for a while.
