Most Admired Companies.

So which company does business admire most? Even among this select group there is a clear leader: For the third straight year Apple (AAPL, Fortune 500) takes the No. 1 spot -- this time by the highest margin ever, according to Hay Group, the management consulting firm that collaborates with Fortune on the list. Indeed, in 2009, 51% of corporate leaders surveyed said they admired Apple, an unprecedented majority.

What accounts for Apple's exalted status? One explanation is that it is the company that has single-handedly changed the way we do everything from consume music and access information to design products and engage with the world around us.

Because of its track record, consumers and businesses alike trust Apple's inventions and its ability not only to churn out products that connect with customers but also to introduce a new way of doing things -- to literally show us what's next. Says Norbert Reithofer, CEO of BMW (No. 22): "Apple's customers are more than customers -- they're fans. The whole world held its breath before the iPad was announced. That's brand management at its very best."

Apple admired?

That's a laugh.

Sure, I like my iPod, but I've gone through three or more iPod Classics and learned that their solution to everything is to give people a new one and clear up some room at the "Help" Desk.

On the other hand, most of the people that work at Windows, work at the Help Desk.

Not surprised, I love my iPod and macbook :D

I guess it depends on your luck with their products though, because some people seem to have continual problems with their stuff. But I have had my iPod video for 3 1/2 years and have never had a problem.

Same. Their ipods have horrible reliability. When I first got my nano, it had a battery life of about 4 hours. Now it lasts about 15 minutes, and Apple doesn't care. :/

I have had some problems with Apple products but they have a really good help desk. And the ipod touch has good reliability.

ehh *is not apple fan* Until they come up with something more innovative, it won't get my admiration... :/

I know a kid that got an iTouch.
He had the screen broken by the next day.

Get Rocketdock, and a leopard theme for it. Then you can hide the taskbar. Or, you can download a mod that edits stuff in system 32 to change it to behave like a mac. It's what I did.

Mac more like Demake PC.

I highly doubt Apple is the "World's Most Admired Company", I can name WAY better companies. Sure, their stuff is nice but Apple? Come on now, who actually votes for this?

Businessmen obviously. They admire the folks who make more money.

Yea, but how much did you use it? Depending on the continual usage, it'll die quickly. Just like with a DS, PSP, etc. The less of a break it gets, the more battery is used up.

I had one of the old classics for five years before it broke.

@Rorato: Then the kid is an idiot. How did he break it?

So basically, people kiss each other's arse when they make more money?

My god, America is full of such evil corporate business. Oh well, that's life. Apple still sucks.

The iPod's reliability/endurance is horrible. Within a month my iHome broke (it just stopped playing songs from my iPod). My iPod's click wheel locked on me and it costs like 100$ to get it repaired, and I didn't do anything to my click wheel (I don't even use my iPod that much, since I normally use iTunes.) One of the very few things I like about Apple is iTunes though, and it's really useful.

Something more innovative?! Apple is one of the most innovative companies out there, along with Nintendo. >_>
