I'm not incredibly sure if you can or not. I know a lot of people say you can't, but there also seems to be a bit of confusion, like how people thought you couldn't plot reset when you could, or that you couldn't adopt neighbors that were kicked out. It's just all very confusing, so I'd just like to see for myself! I don't care if I'm the person kicking out, or the person adopting. (Though, preferably I'd like to be the person adopting, but it's cool if you'd rather adopt.)

Keep in mind that if you DO adopt, you MUST have less than 10 neighbors, or the dialog won't appear.

So, anyone wanna give it a go?

I'm confused - why must I have less than 10 villagers?
doesn't the villager coming in ask you who would be most likely to move out, and you can kick someone to boot out?

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant someone who already HAS the villager moved into their town with their own house. Once they leave, people say you can't adopt them, but I want to test if you actually can.

If you kick out a villager then they can't be adopted. If they ping you to move then they can. However, if never tried the latter. I'd like to see your results :)

Actually, you CAN adopt neighbor that have been kicked out :)

wait you can? that changes a lot. have you tried it yourself?

Haven't tried it myself, but I heard from someone else on here who DID try, that they could. So I'm just going with that you can :P

Weird because I tried as well and it wouldn't work. No matter how much they talked to him.

If you want I could help you myself, However... I will have to be the one adopting and I will be using my Cycle town to pull it off. My main town is full and I don't want to get rid of anyone in it yet because I don't have their amiibo to bring them back easily.
The cycle town is digital and on my other older 3DS. The friend code you'll need is 0490-7979-0288.

But while we do this can we test one last thing? Do you own HHD and some amiibo cards by chance? I've been hearing that if you design a villagers house in that game, save it to it's card and then scan them in to AC:NL they will have the interior of the house you made for them. Frankly I don't believe it but I would love to be wrong :) Again I'd do this part myself but... can't get rid of anyone in main town, cycle town is digital on an old 3ds and I don't have the NFC reader adapter for it.

PM me if you're interested! I have 9. I might not be stalking this thread anymore. c:

Well I guess PM and let me know how it goes if you manage to find someone to do this. Curious myself really.

just from my own experience, i had w. link in boxes in my town and had someone come over and he wouldn't move. but i've had several normal villagers move to other towns after being "kicked" out

Well, it seems you can't adopt special villagers from other towns! Figured as much, but just wanted to test it myself.
