The 3DS update today mentioned the streetpass relays, and from nintendos website it seems like they should be up and running today.
If anyone can see if any nintendozone location does indeed have the relays working I would appreciate it. It will be nice to have easier access to local streetpasses for more houses in the HH showcase and updates for ones I already have.

The way I understand it, the relays essentially take your your 3ds streetpass info and leaves it at the store for a bit, so that others who walk into the store can still exchange streetpass info with you even when you are no longer on site.
Basically, whenever you pass by a Nintendo Zone location, you'll be able to StreetPass with the last person who passed by that location, even if they're not there anymore.
Its for anyone in your local area that has a 3ds and uses the streetpass feature. This makes it easier to get streetpasses as long as people go to any of the nintendo zone spots, like mc donalds and such with their 3ds. Though its limited to getting the streetpass from the last person to be at that location.
I know my town has at least a few people with animal crossing, and hopefully I can streetpass with them more easily with these relays. Esp if bestbuy gets anymore items to download, as I have yet to streetpass anyone at a bestbuy, I get more at walmart funny enough.
I want to max out my HH showcase one day.
The downside to these relays is still never getting streetpasses; if you live in rural areas or very small towns, as the relays need people to go to the nintendo zones to leave their data for you to collect.
I love the streetpass feature. I take it with me everywhere including Best Buy when I go after DLC with a relative. I have gotten eight hits and I will probably take it with me when I hit the mall later and the movies. You just never know. When I do streetpass I like looking at other peoples houses and purchasing from the catalog the things I haven't obtained yet. It's just sooo much fun!
This sounds nice. They even said it was for people who are in areas that are less likely to get streetpasses occuring at the same time. Plus, it helps out bigger cities get more streetpasses too! Win win. I love this idea.
Even then, I doubt Australia will see this any time soon. :/ We get stuff really slow here.
That said, I maxed out my HHA by going to PAX. Would be pretty easy to do if you go to any sort of convention where there will be a lot of people with 3DSes.
