The critical reception has been pretty terrible, but overseas fans who have seen it that I follow say it's good. It's been said even by those who like it that the pacing feels off, but there's a Director's Cut that includes 40 minutes that were cut from the main film so that people who aren't familiar with the series don't get overwhelmed.
So, I'm not excited but I'm interested in watching it and drawing my own conclusions. I don't expect it's going to be the best thing ever, and I'm kind of annoyed that they changed up things from the lore, but I'm not going in expecting the worst either. Pretty sure it will just be OK.
Even if I end up disliking it, though, hopefully I'll be able to get the game at a discount and a free month to play it too.
Literally the only thing that I'm gonna watch it for is because the director is Duncan Jones, David Bowie's son. I like to keep up with all of his work because I think he's an incredibly talented director and I'm interested in what he can do with a series like Warcraft.
I saw it yesterday. I've only played a little of World of Warcraft (I'm a bit more into Heroes of the Storm and less so into Hearthstone), but my parents are both avid gamers and we all went to see it together. I expected it to totally bomb, but it was actually pretty good. I'm not certain how accurate it is to Azeroth history, and whatnot, but the animations was pretty good, the acting was cool, and I enjoyed watching it. A group of people who I know aren't gamers went to see it just for the fantasy-genre type, and they enjoyed it too. So I'd recommend it, at least, but I'll be honest and say now that I've seen it, I'm satisfied having done so once. If it ever pops up on Hulu or Netflix I may see it again, but I don't think I plan on buying it when it's released on DVD/Blu-Ray.
Me and my dad saw it earlier today, and we loved it! Neither of us have ever played WoW, but we play Hearthstone, and the story was easy to follow along with. I'd rate it 7.5/10. It's rediculous seeing how low the critic reviews are, like the average critic review on Rotton Tomatoes is 25%!! um what? lol
