Anyone else's 3ds keeps on trying to do a "systems update"?

Have you done it? I am always leery of doing it because i am afraid it will affect gameplay somehow...

I'm scared when I'm updating that I'll do something stupid and accidentally turn the power off or something, which would probably make everything go "poof".

It will NOT affect gameplay.
Do it cause you won't be able to connect to the internet otherwise.
I download system updates all the time.
What you do is plug your nintendo 3ds into the charger, and just leave it and do something else while you wait for it to update. When its done, it will say ''The 3ds will now restart.'' The console will turn off and back on, and you can return to playing

Yep, last one took literally 10 seconds to download and about the same to install. That's not usually the case. xD As long as you're not super low on battery without easy access to a wall socket, you shouldn't have any issue.

There has been a few cases of the system update crashing some 3ds'..
But I don't think Nintendo would let it corrupt all of your games. Or else that would be horrendous.

If Nintendo did that it would officially drop to the bottom next to XBOX 360. and noone wants that to happen. So nintendo makes surre system updates don't kill your games

It's probably the Miiverse update, you need to do it to use online features with some games (Pokebank for example).

I always do the updates because I don't think they would hurt, and if I don't do them I feel like I'm missing out. I think it would benefit you to update, and won't change gameplay .

The latest system update I did was about the Miiverse, which I found pretty cool since I don't have a Wii U yet.
It took a couple tries for the update to go through for me, though, because I first tried it on Xmas and the servers were overloaded. Then I had to disable to my firewall on my computer to get it to go through.
