Camp Bell Tree 2021 Patch
It's so close to my dodo airlines, but I don't wanna reset; I would lose too much.
PLEASE post pics of what you did if yours is close like mine!

I do! Here's mine:

I basically did a wooden path up from the dock, more or less "extending" the dock (my dock is JUST out of frame, below the wood path) then beside it put a little pathway with an area for instruments and benches and a stall if/when I trade items. I'm shocked to see people who don't like theirs near the dock! I LOVE my location, I literally chose the island for it and love it 😊

Looking at yours... What I would do (emphasis on "I") is do a path wrapping around the plaza (what I call the brick part), maybe pull the path a few tiles away below it (put some shrubs/flowers in, maybe some trees) and then between that and the beach I'd put in some sort of... open-air market. Like, with stalls and stuff. Make sure to add in some trees, maybe with native fruit (I like greeting visitors with native fruit, the pics I just posted are a bit old- I've replaced them with peach trees) And instruments, of course, since villagers look SO cute playing them 🥰
BUT that's just me! Maybe it can give you some ideas, though?

EDIT: On a completely and utterly unrelated note, has anyone else ever noticed how that circle pattern in the bricks in the plaza kind of looks like a Pokeball? I just noticed that 😮

Mine is really close too! In the beginning I thought that it would be a good thing, but when terraforming I realized how hard it is to teraform an entrance!

Sorry it’s so dark and hard to see, but here’s a snapshot of my island entrance, with RS almost painfully close to the airport. It took a while to decide how I was going to handle this, but I took inspiration from other islands and built a wide walkway flanked by rainbow flower beds (you can’t see it, but the other side of the brick path has a hyacinth rainbow). I also built an airport waiting area, taken 100% from a Youtuber (Nintentalk).

To make RS a little less awkward I also build Nook’s Cranny and Able Sisters very close to the airport. This not only made a well defined shopping district, but has also made shopping for guests extremely easy. You have access to all your essentials just a few steps from the airport. No long winded instructions on how to find a hidden store lol.

So don’t despair; RS near airports don’t have to be deal breakers if you don’t want them to be :)

Oh, I did that as well! You can see more on my island... board thingy, with the link under my username (still new here, getting used to the terms and stuff 😅)

To the right of my plaza is the shopping area, and just north of that is my museum. To the left is the main "neighborhood", and a small section of beach that I turned into a beach neighborhood with a fun, public beach (outdoor tables and benches, vending machines, towels, a bonfire, etc.)

Get further from resident services and the dock and, in general, my towns get more rural and rustic and undeveloped. I designed everything with the plaza as a hub, as I intended when I first saw the map I selected (like I said, I was super excited to get RS so close!)

Honestly, at this point, I have no clue how I'd work an island WITHOUT RS right there 😂

EDIT: Also, SmrtLilCookie, I love the edging on your brick paths! Are those custom designs, I'm guessing?

It's so pretty! That's super inspiring! I don't know how I feel about the stalls yet but they do look nice! I might take your advice on the path and shrubbery! In my town, it just looks so bland there, but I have already terraformed a little on the beach there. its behind my house as like a back deck. It is to the left, off screen. Thank you for sharing!

I just mostly went on river exists, and I kind of wish I would have considered other things like this. I see some really pretty terraformed entrances but their RS's are even just SLIGHTLY further up (at least the ones I can remember). But I am determined to keep my island!!

Ahhhh i can't wait for more hybrids! I have sooo many flowers, maybe I can grow more hybrids if I start spacing them out, Moving them closer to my RS might be a really good idea; It looks good here! Thank you!!!

You don't have to do stalls, that was just one idea! You could put in a park, a waiting area, an orchard... it actually looks big enough you could put some villager houses in!
And I like the back deck idea, that's cool! When I picked my island there's a little plateau on one of the sides with a pond in the back of it, and a waterfall going down. I decided right away that's where my house would eventually go, and with terraforming I was able to really make it into a nice spot. Terraforming is awesome ☺

I'm just kind of obsessed with stalls myself, I have WAY too many all over my island 😅

Mine is so close to the airport entrance too! It drives me crazy I can't do a grand fancy entrance walkway! I thought about restarting at a point but I would lose too much and it wasn't worth it. so this is what I came up with!

(edit: i just realized after taking the picture my flowers stands aren't aligned LOL! Please excuse that!)

Oh, wow, that's so fancy and cool 😮

I... I just don't think my island is cut out for something so fancy, I like mine more modest 😅

Wow! This looks AMAZING!! The stone dog lions look good up like that

I have a thread where I posted some pics... Mine is 5 tiles away, and I focused on terraforming around it. Link here
I'm sure you can make it work

I've intentionally putted my RS close to the entrance so that its in the ruins area.So that people using dream suite will be sent to the ruins(I think you begin at residential services when using the dream suite.)

Truth be told I haven't done much to it, other then add the ruins rocks

Yes, those are custom designs. Not by me lol... the creator code is MA-7011-8313-9106. Fair warning: it used up a lot of custom slots!
