Does anyone have any examples of towns that are clearly developed, but still "playable"? Either your own, or good videos/maps? What I mean by that is that you can still fish, still access beaches, still roll snowballs to make snowmen... It still feels like an animal crossing town, but maybe with some flair. I am at the beginning of a huuuuge terraforming project and would love inspiration, but most of the island tour videos I can find... I don't know how the person would actually play the game in their island, it's so busy and cluttered and maze-like. I'm looking to hit a point in between barren and every inch of the island is decorated...

I try to do that with my own island. The rivers aren't perfectly accessible, but if there's a fish, there's a way to catch it. I also generally don't grind for fish much once I've already donated everything, so my playstyle and needs have changed.

I've made barely any cliff/water terraforming changes from the starting map, though, so a good two thirds of my island is just ground level. I'm nowhere near done, and I'm not an amazing designer, but my DA's in my sig if you want to check it out. I don't have a ton of great photos of whole areas, but below are old photos of my entrance and a road intersection in a villager neighborhood to give you an idea.

Mines pretty developed, but I made sure to leave areas for snowballs, fishing, etc. There's some paths, but not everywhere. DA-0700-5178-8683. Easy to navigate.

I made sure my island still had the ability to walk through with ease. I like to be able to walk completely through and around any designed area without getting stuck. I even took away some items while decorating to prevent major lag. I could have pilled twice the amount of items in any area but then it skips around so bad and you can't even enjoy regular game play.

Here's my dream address if you're interested (6423-1687-6786).

I mean...I think most developed towns are still playable. I think there's a pretty thin margin of islands that are so cluttered or hecked-up that they don't function as a normal experience. But...that's just my opinion.

That's something I pride myself in! My island is very open and barely terraformed. It's designed far more for function over design. The oceans are all accessible and is most of the rivers!

We probably just have different thresholds for this :) and some cluttered areas are fine, but snowballs are something I can't help but think about when watching half the tour videos. There are paths everywhere, so there's barely anywhere for the snowball to spawn, let alone be built into a snowboy. I don't want to link to any examples, because I'm not trying to be critical... I'm just looking for something different!

My island is still unfinished, but I'm definitely trying to make things as "playable" as possible. It annoys me when walking around islands is more of a maze/chore than it should be (unless that was the intended purpose) and I personally want my villagers to also be able to navigate and utilize all of the stuff that I'm designing in my island as well.

Mine is still a work in progress, but I am trying to keep it playable. I don't like it when things get too cramped. Right now, it is reminding me a lot of how I kept my New Leaf town.

I am updating my dream address today, so feel free to explore! (It's in my sig)

Mine is developed but very accessible - I made it that way on purpose. I did not do a lot of terraforming (but I did do some!) as many of the more terraformed heavy islands are hard to navigate and hard to do all the tasks you described in.

I think mine fits that, but I don't have a DA or anything yet 😛 I've spent a ton of time developing BUT I also actually play a lot. There are certain stretches of river that have things alongside them, but I made sure they can always be accessed. I've also made sure it's easy to get around town- some of the DAs I've visited looked awesome, but were SUCH a pain to navigate. And since I spend more time on my island than anyone else's, I made sure to avoid that 😅

I'll be doing a DA once I do some Halloween decorating, so everyone can judge then 😉

Mine is fully developed and 100% accessible. I haven't updated the dream address since the option become available, but once I do, I'll post.
