Ive been in ballet for 8 years, and en pointe for 4. I think My greatest Inspiration in the world is Ana Pavlova.
Her performance In Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, when she plays Odette dying.
Makes me cry everytime.

Talk about whatever ya'll like about ballet!

I used to do ballet, and now I kinda regret it since one of the characters they're calling for has to have a grade 4 ;_;

I still fervently adore ballet and anyone who does it. The Corps de Ballet in Phantom of The Opera make me swoon.

Also, kinda random but the reason all my gaming IDs are rufferina is because I did ballet. Fun fact :L

Cool!

The phantom of the opera Corps hardly shows in the movie tho.

Do you mean the live show in vegas?

The Bolshoi Recently came to my town.

If you're talking about the musical, I know it shows in Vegas but it's international xD Yeah, I was talking about the musical. There's more of it in the musical.

That's awesome! I'd like to see them live one day ^^

Sadly, I've never enjoyed dancing myself. We were forced to learn ballet in school, and I hated it. That being said it's fine to watch, I appreciate the amount of skill, talent, and dedication the art requires. Also, I just want to say thought the term ballerina was gender neutral so i've never heard the term ballerino before. But the term, ballerino, is really fun to say and it sorta sounds like a Pok?mon.

I used to do ballet when I was younger, but I quit. x_x I started it up again though like 4 years ago! So I'm not really that good to be honest. But I've made a lot of progress. I'm definitely nothing like a professional ballerina, and I often feel like... Compared to other people, I'm just mediocre, but then when other people watch me, they say I look really good and I always perform well, so, I guess I need to have more confidence. ^^ I just started grade 7, which I'm really enjoying so far. It's so graceful and elegant, I find, much more than the other grades I've done so far. I bought my pointe shoes, but haven't had much of a chance to practice with them yet. They make my feet ache so much. xD

I've never done ballet but now I wish I had. I always signed up for the hip hop/jazz classes instead. I may sign up for an adult ballet class one of these days though.

I got an audition at SAB and I qualified for their intensive in New York. For your pointes, im a bit of a wimp so I use tape, baby teeth numbing cream (helps a ton with blisters so you don't feel), bandaids, and toepads. I think ive lost my second toenail on my right foot like 15 times xD I played Odile (The black swan) at my dance studio and it feels amazing. Someay, I dream of being a principal at the NYCB.

Probably not but.

Also the correct term for a male dancer is Ballerino / Danseur

Ballerina is in Italian and if translated to Spanish it means Bailarina, which means
Female Dancer.

Wow! Sounds amazing. :D I wish you luck! It's always fun just being able to perform anyway. :)

And yeah, I've got the toe pads, and I always wear them when we're just doing a few exercises en pointe, but ugh, they really make my feet ache so much. I think it just takes some getting used to. I've heard that it can make your feet bleed, too! Which is kinda worrying haha, but I'm hoping we'll get the chance to practice more with them soon. It's just we had our grade 6 exam quite recently, so we didn't get the chance to wear them, since we were so busy practicing for it. n_n

What sort of school forces you to learn ballet?

Genuine question. I just couldn't imagine ballet being something that would be forced onto people in school. Is it a private school or something?

Just practice staying on releve's at your studio until your feet get used to it. Yeah, your feet might bleed too (that's the blisters). Your calves might be a lil sore too.

DO NOT GO EN POINTE IF THERE IS NO TEACHER PRESENT PLEASE.

Tons of Schools over here teach / force ballet onto the students. Mostly private schools tho.

That's so cool!
I wish I'd started earlier so my feet could be more archy.

I heard that if the toe next to your big toe is taller than your big toe then you'll be better at ballet x)

That's false. Princess toed feet are harder to maintain balance on and are extremely painful to go en pointe with. I was told not to do pointe bc of possible injuries but
screw it.

Yeah, I know! I couldn't understand why I was told it. Surely there wouldn't be any balance because pointe shoes are designed for a feet that go straight down/ up like / \ on left and right respectively.

Yeah, My toe is literally ONE WHOLE CENTIMETER longer than my big toe wtf.

I have been in ballet since I was five years old. I enjoy it more than any physical activity my school could offer. Also if you have bleeding blisters please take care of that, it can lead to blood poisoning if it's not cleaned and let stay in the air(not dirty shoes or closed shoes).
