heyyy folks! So I've never really wandered into the land of shinies in Pokemon.
I'm kind of a loser at this type of thing and I'm looking for a really good, well written and nicely explained guide or video to Shiny Hunting..
Also if you have any tips to throw in I'd love to hear. Thank youuu <3

There are more than a few ways to encounter shiny pokemon. First, lets get to the easier methods..

Chain fishing. Basically chain fishing is when you stay in the same spot, fishing, without moving or getting no bites.

What breaks your streak:
-Too fast/too slow! Dialouge
-Not even a nibble... Dialouge
-Moving
-Turning off your game
-Finding a shiny

What you can do to keep from breaking your streak:

Have a pokemon with suction cups in the first slot of your party
Fishing with rocks enclosing you
And hitting the A button when you hear the bing sound

What DOES NOT break your streak:

-running
-Having the DS in sleep mode while in a battle

------------------------------------------
XY ONLY:

FS hunting.

The friend safari just has increased odds. Just encounter and run.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MASUDA METHOD:

Put a JPN/EU/FRA pokemon (or any not naitive to you) In the daycare with your pokemon. Just an increased chance.

In XY/ORAS, this is changed to a Pok?mon that is of a different set language than you, so it's easier to do.

Pretty much any game out there just go to youtube, wiki, gamefaq which are all pretty helpful

Surprised that this hasn't been mentioned at all in this thread yet, but if you complete the National Pokedex, you will receive the Shiny Charm. It is a Key Item that increases the likelihood of encountering and/or hatching shiny Pokemon.

It will likely take a long time to complete unless you're really dedicated to doing so, but it's worth the effort.

For information's sake, as it is a Key Item, it is locked to the specific character you got it with and cannot be attached to a Pokemon like a held item and traded to a different game. So if you have more than one game, you might want to go for a Living Pokedex. A Living Pokedex is having every single Pokemon, so for example you have a Bulbasaur, an Ivysaur, and a Venusaur instead of just evolving one Bulbasaur into a Venusaur and counting that toward Pokedex completion.

Also, you do not need any of the Event Legendaries to acquire the Shiny Charm. In-game legendaries are mandatory, though. So for example, you don't need to have a Mew to complete your National Pokedex, but you do need a Mewtwo since you can encounter Mewtwo in some games.

Good luck.
