animal type balance?

i don’t really take species into account when planning out my residents—if i like a villager, i like them! half of my dreamies are rabbits, though, which was wholly unintentional c’:

I like having at least 2 of each species that I have on my island, because I like to ship them and create little families

My final line-up will be two anteaters, two dogs, three cats, a bear, a pig and a duck. I think that does show certain preferences in species and is still somewhat diverse. If we could have more than ten villagers, I would definitely get a third dog to fill the jock position as that is the only personality I lack. As it is right now, I wouldn't want to dispense of any of my dreamies in favor of a jock-dog.

I always have every personality type and I try not to repeat species more than twice. I have two gorillas and two hippos because I literally can’t have all four of them. They’re my babies.

I pick the ones I like and don't worry about the species - I currently have two frogs and they are permanent villagers. I also have two goats as I wanted to try out Velma but she didn't end up growing on me too much so I'll be letting her go when she asks. I do hope to have two cats down the line (Katt and Olivia).

I'm currently missing a jock and I really love Mac - to me, he is the ultimate jock. So I hope I can find him.

Only one of each species on my island. I like a lot of diversity, as much as possible at least.

I pick villagers based on if I like them so I don't really factor in species balance. I love having 4 goats on my island lol and it would be challenging for me to have just one of a villager species on my island.

One thing I do factor in is personality balance though and I like having at least one of every personality.

My general rule is 2 per species, however I generally try to get as much variety on my island as possible and I'll only take more than one if I really, really like the second villager I'm being presented (in the case of Elvis), or if I really like the species (like my ostriches).

I have a couple of the same personalities but all my species are different. I don’t mind the same species though, it just happened this way. There’s just not that many villagers I want on my island, and those I do like, happen to be different species
