Heya gang!
So I have a predicament. I own all of my dreamie's legitimate amiibos (Got em for $1CAD hehe thanks kijiji lady) but I'm struggling a bit on whether or not to use them. I feel like I haven't fully earned my villagers if I do. I got Lolly through Soft Resetting, Bianca and Stitches from the island and I spent 10 hours soft resetting for my ultimate dreamie Tybalt. I own... all of those amiibo legitimately. I ended up adding Marshal through amiibo because honestly $1CAD (73 cents USD) for his amiibo is the lucky element and I've gotten him by RNG 5 times in New Leaf :')
See here's the thing. Rowan is another one of my dreamies and so many people are giving him out AND I have his real amiibo but I'm not sure I want to use it. On one hand, I really want him in my town but on the other hand I don't feel like I earned him and I feel like I'll be much more satisfied if I found him using NMTs

Does anyone else have this issue? Should I just bite the bullet and use his amiibo? Also can someone link me to what the campsite trick is? 👀

(Sorry for the mess of the post I might be hopped up on too much sugar)

I see no point in putting yourself through hours of island cycling. For me scanning in amiibos wasn't any less satisfying than inviting from the island.

I've amiibo in several villagers. I want my village the way I want it so no regrets here... Satisfying to me is having who you want on your island and you get to enjoy them daily...

That's fair! For me I don't feel as satisfied just scanning them in. It's just my own sense of pride haha I really like to work for things.

All 10 of mine are the product of genuine Amiibos (well, will be once I get Tammi moved in). I don't feel bad about it whatsoever. It's okay to have nice things!

Omg I totally get that, I could just use amiibos to get my faves but that would feel so boring?
For me the game is finished at that point, getting all of my favorite villagers is sort of the end goal.
So in the mean time I just want to have various villagers, even some I don't necessarily love, and after a while I replace them with new ones I find with NMT.
I love island hopping and getting some interesting villagers to move in. I probably won't keep most of them but it's fun to see new faces around town.
I'd say about half of my island consists of my favorites and the other half is just there for a while.

It's all really a personal choice. Some people will be happy to use them because they feel it's a certain way of getting their dreamies and they don't have to go through the stress of either hoping luck is rolled in their favor, or trying to earn enough money to buy/trade for them on here.

Other people don't find it very fun or fufilling because they feel it takes the element of surprise (and the excitement that comes from that surprise) out of the picture. They feel if they haven't either paid millions of bells for their dreamies, and/or spent weeks resetting and time travelling for them, then they haven't earned them.

Both ways are alright! I have amiibo for my dreamies too, but I haven't decided to scan them all in yet. I'm kind of waiting to see what I decide to do first.

I have amiibo’s of my current main dreamies as well. Marshal and Rosie. I was not in a hurry to invite them since I knew I can always invite whenever I want. I invited Rosie early just to have one of my favs with me. Also so that island life would be a little more fun in the beginning.

Do what you think is more fun for you. Atleast you know that if you don’t find him on your own, there’s always his amiibo.

I have ten villagers.

I amiibo’d three of them.

They were my Nos. 9 and 10.

There is the Crankly octopus Octavian.

There is the Normal duck Molly.

My original No. 3 villager Nan opted to leave. So, I let her go.

Replacing her, via the amiibo card, is Smug squirrel Marshal.

No one has since left.

Two villagers, both females, both I want to keep, offered to leave: My original No. 5 who is Peppy rabbit Bonbon and, to my surprise, Molly.

They are staying.

The villagers I have (and, unlike “New Leaf,” they are listed on the screen in seniority order): Jock bear Teddy; Uchi cat Katt; Lazy deer Erik; Peppy rabbit Bonbon; Smug bird Lucha; Snooty werewolf Whitney; Cranky cat Tom; Cranky octopus Octavian; Normal duck Molly; and Smug squirrel Marshal.

I intend to even the island with five-and-five for females. I do want to bring in Lazy bear cub Stitches. He is, from my experience with “New Leaf,” my favorite. But, challenging him is Molly. It may be they are my overall favorites when listing one male and one female.

The reason why I have no problem with the amiibo cards is because it saves me time.

I think that's how I've been viewing it. I actually have one of my main dreamies as it is so I'm having fun in my town but I think I'd feel more satisfied finding him naturally? I guess I'll wait a bit longer before scanning him in :)

You do have to work to get them in.. They'll have you craft 3 different items over 3 days.. I've found most of the ones I've scanned in on mystery islands and honestly, using an aiimbo was harder than using a few NMT..

My .02

I'm aware, I have scanned in Marshal haha I still don't feel satisfied doing it.

I really think it can go either way. If you think that island hopping or soft resetting is the most fun and best method for you, totally do it! I wouldn't do anything that takes the fun out of the game for you. Amiibo's can be a second option for you if you choose, and I wouldn't have any hard feelings about doing what you want. You always have his amiibo, so you have a backup plan if you think soft resetting takes to long! TLDR: Do what is most fun for you!!

you're so valid!!
my thoughts are, if you invite one and don't feel satisfied enough with them, you can always let them move out or replace them with a non-dreamie amiibo (if you have one) and if you ever want to invite them back you always got access to them! Do what give you the most enjoyment out of your game :> Even if you don't use them in the end, it's not a waste, you got them for fairly cheap and you always got a fun piece of them with you in physical form!

I used Moe's amiibo card and Olivia's. I will use Tom's at some point, but because I can use that whenever I'm going to try to search for another villager on islands before doing that. I just missed seeing Moe's face around, so I invited him when I could!

You are just like me! I spent hundreds of Nook Mile Tickets to get my dreamies so far and while I have ordered amiibos now, it's to reset the starter homes they came in and nothing more. I don't even feel like getting any villagers from people here on the forum because it just feels so less "real" like meeting them on island tours naturally and inviting them. In fact, even just the thought of switching the guys I have now out to re-invite the amiibo version for the upgraded houses feels...icky. Like I'm replacing them. Like amiibos are not the real deal. I can't really explain it well but it feels like cheating to me. And like buying a brainwashed slave instead of making a friend the normal way.
Yeah I'm strange and weird and overthinking a video game.
