i had an auction for a villager, that was held until midnight
no one bid until PAST midnight, when the auction was over
therefore at this point im just selling her and have the ability to choose whomever
someone posted the buyout price which was 10mil while someone else said 15mil
of course im gonna go for the higher price, the auction is over so if someone is gonna offer me more before i make my decision then hey tough luck
the 10mil bidder got vicious and started to bring her daughter into this and claimed that i broke the rules and how no one should ever trade with me, even though according to an admin, i did nothing wrong
so a couple days pass and the person who wanted the villager (she wasn't in boxes) said that they don't want her anymore so OF COURSE im going to go back to the other bidder and ask if they still wanted her. at this point, im giving her away for free idc i want to get rid of her. you know what they do? they snap at me over pm. they say that im a terrible person, that they pity me, that im on their ignore list, that im the most rude person they ever dealt with, that i was harassing them after being provoked and not given an apology, and that i should go waste someone else's time and feel sorry for them instead. (i said i pitied her because she guilt me into wanting to give her the villager because she said her daughter was so excited and stuff)

can you guys tell me whose in the wrong lol im just so angry im sorry

i only like giving them away for bells* because i feel like that's a fair trade regardless of their popularity, plus someone else that wants them will finally get them you know? eventually ill stop (aka once i get all my dream villagers)

I think the other person shouldn't have gotten nearly that angry. That's the sort of situation you make a sad face toward before waiting for another seller to come along, because you can't really expect someone to take the lesser bid over the higher one. Not to say it can't happen, but you can't expect it.

Ironic at how that woman said you were rude and harassing them when she was clearly the one being rude and snappy and that she tried guilt-tripping you by using her daughter. Her own fault that she didn't read the rules properly, and even if she did, she still should've been respectful. Like chill yo, it's a game and you're getting pissy over pixelized animals.

That's the first thing that comes to my mind in this kind of situations.

I don't think you did anything wrong, if anything the other person was being extremely rude and needs to spend their excessive amount of energy on something else.

You did nothing wrong. However, in that situation I personally would have asked if the first bidder could match or beat the higher bid and give them first dibs if they could since they did post first. Assuming they were online at the time.

If they had bid during the time you specified for the auction to run, you would have been wrong to accept a bid above the buyout price or one after the deadline. I've actually had this happen to me. I won and auction and then someone tried to one up me after the auction had ended. Luckily the bid wasn't accepted and I am still really grateful to the seller for that

hm i guess that would be a good idea actually, if i land in a situation similar to this i think i'll do that, but when its late at night in my time i don't think i'd bother with that like you either get her or not too tired fo dis haha

i know the rules for auctions so i know i would have been in the wrong otherwise. im not greedy, but like if the auction is over you can't except the auctioneer to follow auction rules you know?

to be honest i don't care if someone has a child like they are not my business. YOU'RE the one buying the villager not them i dont care if they're upset. if you lose, you lose. just go find someone else finding the villager. but the fact that they're over 40 and getting angry over a pixelated animal is beyond me. im 17 and i don't even care

Wow, that is super frustrating. I know it personally stresses me out so much when I have to deal with situations where people are acting unreasonably. I read the thread, your posts, their posts, and the comments from them on your profile, and I cannot see anything that justifies such extreme behaviour on their part.

Perhaps for clarity's sake you should specify in the rules that once the auction is over, different rules will apply, and bids higher than the buyout price will obviously be accepted(like you said, you were obviously going to go for the higher price). I don't feel as if you broke your own rules, because the auction was OVER, and naturally the higher price is more appealing, but I know that if I was in their position I would feel frustrated because I offered buyout price and did not receive the villager.

With that said, I have minimal sympathy for them. It was immature for them to snap at you like that and their reaction confuses me. But I do urge you and others not to retaliate or approach them with accusatory/harrassing/insulting statements. Since their identity is easily found through this thread, I am somewhat worried that they will be harrassed by other users.

A good thing to do in situations like these is to completely cut the troublesome person from contact, use the site's block/ignore/etc feature if you must, report them/approach a mod or admin if you feel the need to take it to the staff, and try to forget it. I am SO bad at not letting things like this get to me... I don't like conflict of any kind, lol. I always want things to be resolved as soon as possible, I don't like having bad blood between me and someone else :/

But yeah, sorry you had to deal with that. I'm sure it was confusing and stressful. For the record, you don't seem rude to me, much less the "rudest person on this site". I would say that you're... aloof. Like a cool greaser with a studded leather jacket and sunglasses or something. Actually, you both seem like decent people from your posts, I wonder what sparked them to react like that?

I'll do that for you now. In future we would ask you keep such a situation between yourself, the member, and staff. Making a thread is really just drawing out the situation unnecessarily with the potential to cause more trouble.
