The Bell Tree Fair 2013 Patch
I've been trying to get some villagers to move out, but whenever one of them ping's me and I talk to them and don't tell them to stay, they just change their mind and say they're staying.

Am I doing it wrong? Is there a way to make sure they go for certain? Do I just not talk to them when they ping me?

Sometimes if your friendship is too low with a villager they will change their mind. Next time they ping you and change their mind, close the game without saving. They will still move on the day they mentioned. Just ignore them until their move date. ^^

If they tell you that they're moving and then decide to say, just reset without saving. They'll still be the one that wants to move.

Oh ok that's good to know! After resetting do they ping again, and do I talk to them again? Or just ignore?

you can ignore them when they ping you again, or you can also talk to them and they won't say the same thing! They'll actually leave! :) either or is fine.

Ok, thank you guys! It's already worked, I've got a villager in boxes! Yay!

Another quick question though. I'm going to do the reset trick. How soon after this villager moves out should I start the game up with a new character? Do I do it from the day they leave?

5 days must happen before a new villager moves in, I believe. Do it the day after they move out from then on, just in case. :)

Wait...I'm missing something. You can skip ahead 5 days, or not? Or do you mean that you should be able to skip 5 days but usually err on the side of caution and start with the very next day after the villager moves away from your town?

BTW...thanks for this thread, Rosebane. I've been wondering this very thing.

I assume you have 8 villagers.

I have had some try to move in the following day and once or twice it was 2 or 3 days after.
I would start a new character a couple of times on the following day. I've had it happen where sometime they didn't show up the first time but they did the second and following.

Always better to be cautious if you are villager resetting. ^^

Forgot to mention if you do TT and you TT forward to try to find a plot, then TT back to the day you started. Make sure you load a new character since it counts as a day and they can try it sneak in.

Ugh. I just had this happen. Someone moved out and the next day "just to be safe" I created a new character twice to see if I could locate a plot. Both times I found nothing. Then I loaded up as my mayor and found Chief moving in next to my campsite. Typical, a cranky villager trolling me. XD

I think it's more annoying when you do the trick to only talk to them once as they arrive in boxes and then ignore and they won't go. I mean Savannah hasn't moved for a month, now.

I'm TTing, so I get a bit confused with how many days it's been in-game, but I'm pretty sure the moving in spot was there the day after the other villager moved out. So I'd definitely advise anyone else doing it to be cautious and do it from the day after they move away.

Yeah I'm still in the process of resetting, and quite a lot there are times when there's no plot at all in the town, and it's the same day every time I do it. Quite annoying. :/

HALLELUJAH!!!!

I've finally got a villager I wanted in a place I like! I've been resetting on and off since I started this thread! Kid Cat will now move into my town! Yay!

I guess it may have taken longer seeing as I just want villagers in a general area in my town, and it was out of all the Jock villagers, not just one particular one I'd had set to move in.
