I don't want to bore you with a story behind me making this thread, but I will just get to the point.

Do you think addictions that are formed are an actual need, physical, like your body needs it or is it more psychological.
I would just think it is more psychological because you can survive without it.
Mainly making this to get a discussion started.

Always mental, unless it really is something you really need it,like everbody would know you would die without it.

It really kinda depends on what you're addicted to.

I'm not a biologist or psychologist but I'm guessing it depends.

Mental...
For instance, if you're addicted to a drug, you're going to be addicted to the chemical components that it holds, and your brain will eventually get used to these things, since most of them kind of mirror other components in the brain and it's going to want more.

Something along those lines, it's kind of sketchy though.

Yeah. After awhile, your brain thinks it's something you need, like food or water.
Then again, it's partially physical because of the withdrawal symptoms some people experience.

Mental for most, but if it's a drug, your body gets used to it and thinks it needs it, so it becomes vital, just like other things your body needs.

Physical. You brain actually becomes dependent on it, which isn't mental. Mental is when you think you need it, but you don't require it to function. Most addictions make your brain dependent on the substance.

Both, really. Some people develop a mental addiction so much, that when they stop cold (like, for instance, smoking) their body literally goes into withdrawl...

I see people's reasons for both, never thought of it while making the poll.. hm, well, you can elect not to vote or just choose the one you are leaning more to.

ussually mental, but sometimes both.
Certain drugs like heroin have crazy ass withdraw effects, like explosive diarrhea, and getting sick like a dog.

Mental, but as Master Crash previously stated, it depends on what you're addicted to. I've never really been addicted to anything, so I wouldn't really know, honestly.

Both.

Chemicals change the brain to actually depend on it sometimes but addiction like sex addiction are mental.

Not necessarily. Just like drugs, your body craves that sexual high when it happens. Then, you become addicted to it, uncontrollably.
