I have a huge problem. Let me start from the beginning:

I am a straight A student, very active all that good stuff. But for the past few weeks I have been obsessed with my new ACNL town-Serenity that I have became addicted :o I would come home from school and start playing ACNL. My school work and homework was not to the best of my ability, and I was really lazy and always wanted to play ACNL.

Then a couple days ago I said that this was not good, so I stopped playing ACNL and worked on my school work better. I avoided ACNL and all ACNL websites completely. Then today I went on the forums and got hooked in. I wanted to reset my town and play all day everyday.

Now, I know that winter break is coming up and I will have plenty of time to play, but I don't want to get sucked back in and become lazy with school

I made a plan that in the summer I will start a new town and play a lot.

But now it is hard. I want to play now, but I can't. I have way too much homework.I don't wanna reset so close to a holiday, like Toy Day, I don't like resetting in the winter either.

I don't know what to do please help me!!!!!!!!

And please don't say "Maybe this game isn't right for you" and that stuff please because I want to play so badly.

Thanks :lemon:

Set a time limit and stick to it, like 20 minutes every day (or whatever works with your schedule). That way you won't be completely starved when winter break comes and overdo it.

Also, resetting in the winter has one huge benefit - you can dig for mole crickets without anything in the way. I just started my second town and this is freaking amazing.

I was awful for this kind of thing at school. I used to try to reward myself. So after finishing a homework assignment for one subject that would equal 10 minutes of play time and then I would choose to either finish another homework assignment or play for 10 minutes then (an egg timer is great for keeping track of time). It's hard, it's very hard to self-regulate yourself. But it's a good thing to try to learn :)

hmmmm... that's pretty smart I'll try that

What do you mean by digging up mole crickets with nothing in your way.

I also want to know what should be a good day to reset (A day not close to Toy Day)

I feel you. I'm targeted A's and B's but ACNL distracts me a lot. Especially when I have exams next year. Maybe why don't you make a set timetable which specifies what studying your going to do throughout the day, set times you play ACNL and fit in all the other stuff you do to make your day?? I'm gonna do that . I feel like it's gonna help.

Prioritize your schoolwork and play ACNL when you can. You can play ACNL at any time when you are not busy and if you can't play every day, don't be afraid to TT back to the day(s) you missed. It's okay, that's why the option is there on the main menu. You can't time travel in real life, so if you screw up with your school work, you can't undo that. You can reset at any time, and it is probably best to do so after the holidays when things are less crazy and you can just play the game at your own pace.

Animal Crossing has to come after your homework. Don't allow yourself to play until after that's finished. It can be your reward. At least you have more time to play on the weekends and winter break should be soon, right?

omg!!! Thank you for all the good answers now for resetting whats a good day, time all that stuff

I don't want to reset close Toy Day or any holiday, I also wanna play a lot during winter break.

I also need a town name- like a girly town name.

thanks for all the answers.

Mole crickets are underground and you have to dig them up, but you can't tell where exactly they are (you just hear their sound). So if you have flowers and patterns in your town, you need to remove them to find the exact spot.

Welcome to life (part one).
For the rest of your life you will be challenged to make decisions about what you want to do and what needs to be done.
You are perfectly normal ... we all make these choices and hope they are the right ones ... just follow your heart.

Wise advice... Very wise advice indeed...

Thank you that was very inspiring and very true thank for that word of advice

Goodluck with your problem!!! I had the same problem my freshman year in college and boy did my grades drop. I limit myself to an hour a day now, when i'm not on break.

Perhaps work on homework for like 30 minutes, then play acnl for 15-20, then repeat? It's healthy to take breaks between homework anyways! My music teacher always advised this ^-^

The school work comes first as that affects what you can do in RL. And personally I would find it more interesting than acnl.

This is how I would do it: Homework, friends & family, TV, eating etc. come first.
When you have spare time - eg maybe an hour or so at the weekend - play the game - and enjoy playing with no feelings of 'really I should be doing something else'.

I do this by freezing time ingame - make a note of when you last play time & date. When you can play again move clock back to a time after you last played & play again.
I do this with the system clock and then load the game, but you can do with Isabelle at the front screen if you wanted.
You are probably going to be playing in the past, maybe you will play a few days at a time at the weekend, & some weekends you might not play at all.
Its a game and supposed to be stress free & enjoyable, RL definitely comes first.
