Hello everyone!
As we all probably know, the new AC game, New Horizons, is about $60.
Most Nintendo Switch games are around that price as well.
Do you guys think that it's too expensive, or is it a reasonable price?
Personally, I have mixed feelings lol. The game is HD, has hella new features, and there was obviously lots of work put into it! But there's another side of me, that's iffy about it. Probably just because I'm broke lmao

Reply below your opinions! Can't wait to hear them all!

I'm not really used to buying new gen games, so that price is very...oof.
Whenever I'd get a PS4 game it'd be years after release, so it'd be marked down to like $15. I don't know if older switch games go on sale for that price.
I also don't know enough about the intricacies of game development and marketing to say if it's fair. My first reaction is "too expensive," but when I say that I risk rather overzealous fans overstepping their boundaries to tell me to budget better, lmao

I put as many hours as possible into every game I buy, but AC def has much more longevity. So considering that, maybe the price seems better.

It's 80AUD and is far too expensive Imo. I'm still buying it as soon as it comes out because I'm a sucker for the animal crossing games, but like all other switch games I think it is overpriced (I have had money out aside for like half a year for this). Imo I think the switch itself as a system is overpriced for what you do get, and this will be one of the last switch games I get in a while (I'm planning on also getting the new Layton game at a much more readable $60AUD)

Games have stayed the same price while game development costs have skyrocketed.

$60 is fine with me.

60 € is a normal price. Probablly it will be 59,99 to attract more people but really don't underdtand the problem. New games are always around 50-60€ . When I was about 13 years younger games were also about this price. So nothing really new or suprising :)

To be fair I spent ?25 on New Leaf and got ~600 hours and counting out of it. That's very good value.
Nintendo games don't tend to go on big sales either, so I feel like I may as well buy it at release for ?45-50

I find the price fair. Development of games clearly is time and resource costly, and 60?, a price that has been mostly the same around my area for newer games from big names for years, seems acceptable for me. Implying of course there are no shady business tricks like DLC adding stuff that was essentially removed during development just to sell it again, or locking content behind microtransactions. DLCs themselves are fine, as long as they do legitimately add new content.
Considering that I will play it for many hours, the cost per hour ratio will also make it feel worth the money, too.

The price is fine to me. I spent 1,000+ hours with New Leaf and I expect I'll do the same with New Horizons over the years. I'm redeeming a voucher for this so it works out at ?42. Honestly, I'd almost call it a bargain.

I think $60 is fair, most games have been that expensive for a while now so I can't complain. They will probably reduce the price in a few years like with new leaf anyway and some stores have sales so

If you live in Canada like me, you'll know that the price tag will be $80! And that's not including the tax! In total, it would reach just over $90! But I definitely think that it will be well worth the price (I'm looking at you Link's Awakening). I spent thousands of hours on New Leaf. There's no doubt I'll spend thousands more on New Horizons.

I think it is overpriced because I am sure we will have DLC for that game, I love AC so much so I will buy the game day one but I usually don't spend 60 euro for a switch game (I usually wait for a sale). I am lucky that amazon will sell the game 46 euro day one which is a really nice price but I am pretty sure that I will have to pay more because of DLC and switch online.

I think here in England it's around ?50 on mainstream stores like Game, Nintendo etc. I've pre ordered a copy from Base for ?39.85. Whilst I wouldn't mind pre order bonuses I'm not massively overwhelmed by them so I'm giving them a miss this time around.

60 is fine. I?m used to the price by now so I expect it.

60$ is totally fair for new horizons. That game has so much to offer along with its stunning graphics so I think its reasonable.

For me it depends on the quality of the game. For example, when Pokemon SwSh first came out, there was no way I was gonna pay anywhere NEAR $60 for it. I'm still a bit hesitant but with the new updates coming this Summer I'm a little more willing to spend that much.

I'm not aware of all the new features of New Horizons so I'm not 100% sure yet if it's worth the price tag, but assuming it'll improve the series in the way that New Leaf improved on City Folk then I'm assuming it'll totally be worth it :p

I think it's reasonable. And if you're a big Animal Crossing fan, you'll probably get more than your money's worth out of it in the long run. It's a game most players will probably play for many months, if not years.

I understand that $60 is expensive for a lot of people, but it's the average cost of a new game from any major company so I think it's fair. I'm not sure what New Leaf sold for originally, but I felt lucky to pick up my copies for only $20. Of course, that was several years after the original release. Hopefully, New Horizons will drop in price after a few years too.

The price isn't surprising and expected. Being cheaper would be nice, sure, but given it's the average price of any other Switch game, I won't complain. I'll get my money's worth from it.
