I currently have 10 villagers though I have not actively recruited any thus far. I only have one of my dreamies and I would like to get more, but I cannot until I have 9 or less, correct?

And also, could someone explain to me exactly how villager transfer works? Is it efficient?

Moving out villagers happens when you have 9 or 10 villagers, you can move out a villager 4 days after another villager has left. When you have 8 villagers only villagers can move in until you have 9 then they can move out again. When your villagers are in boxes you can have someone take them and then they won't be voided, you can only get that villager back after cycling through 16 other villagers. You can only have up to 10 villagers.

To get your dreamies, you need to cycle out villagers which like I said above can be done every four days and you can tt to get villagers to move. When you tt four days ahead you will get a ping from a villager, if you don't get a ping it means the villager that wants to move out is at home or in a store so find out who they are by chatting to other villagers. They might say "Oh did you know so-and-so is moving out soon? How could anyone wana leave this place!?" You can continue doing this till all the villagers you don't want have left and your dreamies and come.

Hopefullly that helps!

Thanks! Another question though.. how exactly do you transfer them, though? When they are in boxes you just need that extra slot where someone has moved out and you go talk to someone's villager and convince them to come to your town? Then do they move in or come into the campsite? Or are campsite visitors random and unrelated to your friend's villagers?

If you want a villager from another town to move in to your town, just talk to them when they're in moving boxes. You must have free space in your village. The talk is pretty straightforward... they'll mention how they still haven't found a place to move to, and you can suggest your own village and they'll be happy with the news. Once they've agreed to move to your village, any dialog with them afterwards will be about how they're looking forward to moving to your village etc. You do not need to do anything else from this point.

A few days later (I've had villagers move the next day, but some people report waiting up to 3+ days) a new plot will appear in your town -- that's their house! They do not move in to the campsite, they set up house directly in your town. Campsite visitors are completely random.
