So, a few months back my favorite villager Kabuki moved out. I haven't moved out enough villagers to remove him from the list yet. If I were to get another villager, either by buying or an amiibo card, would he 'inherit' the old Kabuki's data? I was really close to his picture.

When you move in a villager that previously lived in your town via Amiibo card,they start from scratch as a brand new villager in your town and if you get the villager from another town,they'll have the data and memories from the town they came from and won't inherit anything from your previous villager.

Guess I'm not getting his picture for another long while... at least I get to befriend him again! Again. Again. Again. I've had him in all my AC towns ever. It is a blessing
Ah so lucky! I got him a couple months ago after he moved from my mom's town. Oh! I just realized I have access to a giveaway town! Every now and then she puts the villager photos in it, I can check for his photo for you next time if you'd like!
