A Question about the Digital Copy

If I understand correctly, the game cartridge has the same file, no matter what system it's in? See, I have a friend which has a 2DS. If I put the game cartridge in there, it should load the same town right? And I will buy the digital copy on my 3DS. If she had my game cartridge in her 2DS and I had my digital copy running we could connect to each other right? Through local wireless?

OR maybe the digital copy will have the same data as the game cartridge? Plz answer these questions!

The game cartridge will work in any 3DS or 2DS. It saves to the cartridge.
If you are on your digital copy, and your friend is on a cartridge, yes, you can connect.

Thanks I am thinking about getting a second copy so I could have a main town and my trash town xD

Just so I could cycle and time travel and not have to worry about any real damage to my main (or potential)!
