A Question About "Cycling"

This isn't a question about how to cycle or the 16 villager cycle. My friend has had every single Smug in his town, and he's wondering whether or not it'll restart the Smug "cycle". He has Phil in his town and was wanting to let him and Bones go to reset for Shep, but since he's had every Smug, is that even possible?

The question will still come back to the 16 villager cycle I believe. Your friend won't be able to get another Smug villager until they have cycled through 16 villagers for one of them! With your friend going through every Smug in the game it's likely they have gone through the cycle with some of them already, and so there would be only a limited number of Smugs to choose from via plot resetting

I would suggest they go back and figure out if they've moved 16 villagers out after moving Shep, cause that is the only way they'll be able to reset for or invite Shep back

He's gone through more than enough to get Shep back, so there's that at least. Is it still possible for him to reset for his plot to show up via the villager reset trick, or is his only option to invite him from his cycling town?

if hes cycled enough for shep and hasnt moved a smug out as the last, he SHOULD be able to plot reset for him. idk though because ive never had all of one personality ><; but he could always try!

Nope he should be able to reset for him, it will of course take much longer unless he is very lucky!

If Smug is the only personality he doesn't currently have, the game may allow him to reset only for a Smug and he would be able to find Shep a lot quicker, but with 2 Smugs atm in his town the game will prob try and get him another set personality or go through all types (hope that sentence made sense haha!)

Also I have heard that the last villager personality you let go will not come up during plot resetting, though I've never trialled that thought myself!

Just confirming that he hasn't been able to get a single Smug to place their lot down. Phil was the first to go, then Tom instead of Bones. He has one of every other personality and he's been getting random move-ins.
