So first off this is really the first guide ive ever written before so it will probably not be that long, plus I have terrible puncuation and grammar ^^. So without further ado...here is DoctorSwiffy's guide to Swiftly taking advantage of Island Tortimer!

So first things first, unlocking the island.

After paying off your first home loan, the actual house, not the tent. After that Tortimer the old mayor of your town will be introduced to you and he will invite you to his island. One day after meeting him a boat will appear on your dock at the beach allowing you passage to the island for 1000 bells round trip. After that you can go when you want everyday no matter if its night or day and personally night is my favorite, for reasons I will discuss in a minute

Now by this point I'm pretty sure you're thinking yeah, yeah, get to the part to how this benefits me and makes me bells. Well folks, your wish is my command! So far within the couple weeks that i have been playing this amazing game i have racked up a grand total of 560k bells most of that in one long late night trip to the island.
Now I wont say that every single trip to the island will snag you 300k plus, but you wont ever leave with less than 50k.

Now that being said, the main thing that you will be scavenging for are beetles and fish, now the rarer the better but that all depends on how dedicated to the island you are. For example: I usually spend from 5pm-11pm on the island as that is when I have encountered the largest number of rare beetles and fish. One such trip I had encountered 4 sharks within 15 mins and at the 30 min mark 5 rare beetles, each selling for a large amount of bells!

Now I'm sure you're thinking thats great Doc, but why should I care? That's not me that, that has happened to, why should I care? Well not so fast there pilgrim, I'm about to tell you some of my tips and tricks to this! First things first, setting up your island for success! First plant more palm trees by shaking the bananas from them and using the shovel you can borrow from Lloid to plant them. Make sure you plant a decent amount but not too much where you can barely see yourself from how thick it is! Doing this is basically doubling your chances of seeing more beetles and when you see more beetles, you are going to run into more rare beetles.

Now one more thing pertaining to trees. Leave the fruit trees in the middle. DO NOT CUT THEM DOWN. You will encounter a couple different beetles that are worth a decent amount of bells to beetles that will be worth a lot I.E Golden Scarabs, Jewel Beetles, Rainbow Stags, Saw Stags etc, etc . In fact, you should really plant more of them using the same process I just discussed in the paragraph above. I wont tell you how many to plant or where to plant them as I will leave that up to your imagination.

After you have your island laid out how you want it, its time to move along to the tips of how to actively approach the subject of how to effectively catch the little critters that you've been doing all this work to snag! Best way that I have discovered through many hours of hunting the little buggers myself, is to slowly work my way around the island in a counter-clockwise fashion close to the waters edge, that way you can keep an eye on the water for any fins! I say slow because you don't want to scare any rare beetles off as you work your way around! Trust me the rare ones will flee quick quickly if you approach them in any fast way. Ask anyone they will tell you the same!

As for the fish...there's not really a technique that is guaranteed to catch them. You will see lots of different types but my advice is to only go for the big shadows or shadows with fins. At least thats what I do at least. The mediums will sometimes land you a decent amount but the real money makers are going to be the beetles as they spawn a lot faster than rare fish. I will say what has worked for me though is when facing a finned fish, is as soon as they go for the bobber I close my eyes and listen for the sound of the bobber going under water to stop the nerve jerking. Put headphones in or sit in a quiet room so you will be able to hear the sounds.

Well guys that wraps up this guide, the only thing left to do after catching all those wonderful little money bugs is to throw them in the box by the door and head on home to sell them! I hope that this guide wasn't too scatter-brained or confusing. If anyone has any questions or would like to add anything, please feel free to post it in the comments below!

Cheers! DoctorSwiffy
