do you know why the animalese in new horizons sounds nearly intelligible as they sound? here are a few quick factas facts from me (although it may involve some data mining thing, and may be false / unproven)

-there are up to 241 sound definitions, including the "Kana" and "KanaEx", designed to support the game's supported languages, and all of them are personality based, so lazy villagers' sounds will be different from any other personality.

-size matters. there's some kind of villager size parameter in the game which modifies their "pitch set". to notice, try compare the sounds of different villagers w/ same personality, such as filbert's, cube's and alfonso's. they're small, medium and large sized respectively.
special characters (such as kicks, saharah, luna, redd, and so on) on the other hand will have completely different "pitch sets" from villagers.

-there are no Kana "la, li, lu, le and lo" sounds as many people seem to believe. instead, it goes to japanese style of "ra, ri, ru, re and ro". there's also no Kana "fu" and "wu" however... (and unfortunately idk for the substitution of "fu" and "wu")

-unlike previous animal crossing games, animalese in new horizons comprised of "syllables" or "morae", hence the Kana and KanaEx exists.

-despite being "syllables" or "morae", the villagers seem to speak pretty fast, most probably to matching with the text speed.

i think that's all from me, you can let me know in the replies if you wish...

Thanks for the insight. Are bebebese used in punctuations though?

i don't think so
they just stopped talking when there's a punctuation (in most punctuations such as commas, full stop, exclamation marks, question marks [but no idea for any others like colons, semicolons, and others if any], but quotation marks [and apostrophes, if any?] do not make them stopped talking, so does hyphen and dash)

but on ellipsis (...), there's the "dot" like, or typing like sounds, and the text speed is being slowed down. is this the bebebese many people refer to?
