7 female villagers, but only 3 male?

I have noticed recently that my town is kind of overpowered by female villagers. I only have 3 males to send valentines to.

Females: Carmen, Phoebe, Melba, Tammy, Portia, Lolly, Chevre.
Males: Papi, Leonardo, Punchy.

I heard your town is supposed to have an equal amount of male and female villagers, but clearly that isn't true. Is this odd?

My sister's town has 6 males:4 females. It only ends up even for the first 9 villagers that move in. After that, everyone is fair game.

I just preferred the female personalities and looks overall.

When I've gotten Octavian and Genji into my main town from my 2nd town I'll have 5 males and 5 females x3 I'll have at least one of each personality too <3

but no I don't think it's strange to have more of one villager gender, after all, it's your choice :3

I Used to have 7 females and 3 males but now I have 4 males and when anabelle finally moves out I'll be able to get my 5th and last one.

I keep my villagers equal if I can. I've seen some towns with only female villagers though (personally I would find that super boring).
