Lately, I've been thinking about upgrading from a regular 3DS to a 3DS XL. But, after reading a TON of reviews I learned the resolution is the same and everything looks a bit more chunky/pixalated...can anyone help me out in telling me if it's a huge difference or not? It could be a deal-breaker for me..Thanks!

No. People need to stop feeding Nintendo money from these slightly different variants

The screen resolutions didn't changed, as the dot pitch has increased a bit so they got bigger without being blurrier. Sure, it made the pixels on the screen a bit more noticeable, but it's not distracting enough to put you off.

I just bought my Limited Edition Pikachu Yellow XL and I would never revert back to the regular 3DS. I don't know if everything is slightly more chunky/pixelated but I haven't noticed any drop in the quality of graphics. The increase in screen size makes a huge difference to my gaming experience, it's great!

I bought my 3DS last July and I don't feel like I'm getting anything more with XL version. I can play just fine on my regular handheld so I don't need the bigger screens. Also, that's just more money for Nintendo for no reason.

edit: As long as I don't get my hands on anybody's XL I will feel this regular is just fine. If I get to play somebody's XL... then my opinion might change.

The pixelatedness is barely noticeable. The 3D looks gorgeous and much better on the XL's bigger screen.

I don't know if it's worth an upgrade, though. If you're content with your regular 3DS, then I don't see the need to unless you really want that bigger screen. However, for people who still don't have a 3DS, I'd recommend the XL instead.

That's how I feel. Although I do think the XL is better, it's not worth the price of the upgrade, because you can still be satisfied by the normal 3DS. Unless a special edition XL comes out that you feel is a "must have", then by all means, go for it. :)

I wouldn't say it's worth an upgrade if you already have a 3ds unless you just want the bigger screen. I've never had the original, but I do like my XL. I've never had a problem with pixels myself, but the audio could do with some upping.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate your input. I'm still somewhere on the edge but if the ACNL 3DS XL bundle comes to America, I'm going to get it for sure!

That's what I'm doing, Benmjy. Good choice. It'll probably come out imo, as they released it in Korea too.
