So how careful are you guys with them?

I know some people keep them in their original cases meticulously. Others use their 3DS case (if it has slots) or one of those 6/12/18/24/whatever cases. I've read some people online say they just throw them in a ziplock bag, or their pocket without any protection. Also some people on youtube make cases out of duct tape and even legos.

I have a few individual protectors (which I LOVE) that go in a sunglasses case for traveling, and at home, I loosely put the few I'm playing at the time into 1 of the regular cases (I mean the one the games come in). They're not secure in there and bang around against each other, but since it's mostly just sitting on my desk, I'm ok with that.

I know they're sturdy, but I mostly worry about dust and what not getting on the exposed part....so I'm curious if anyone else is particularly careful. How do you store them? How much manhandling do you think they can really take?

I'm very careful with my cards.
I usually put them in the most safest way possible so that the cards won't morph and will read properly.

I keep them in my 3DS case, they kinda have like, their own slots, I suppose? that you can put them in and keep them protected. It's very handy, so I always have the games with me and protected so xD

I had this case for my DS (So it's like... 6 years old maybe?) and I still use it for my 3DS games. I can't store the system since it's an XL, but it's good enough for just storing games.

I just keep my games in their normal cases. If I ever need to go anywhere, I'll just bring them in my tiny case for 4.

So when you store them in the cases though, it involves pushing them in and out of the cases. I think it would help if I knew something about how electronics work, but it seems to me like hard cases could scratch the exposed gold medal part, or even small fibers from the fabric could get stuck to it. I mean they say dust particles can damage it, so I don't see how it's that sturdy....

Is this a pointless phobia, or something that could happen?

The problem with that is juggling the cases if you switch games as much as I do. Then you have to pull it out of one, put it in the other, etc...and if you get lazy, ahem, you end up with games all mixed up in the wrong cases. XD

When my cat passed away, I kept his cute little food dish, washed it out, and put it on my desk. Now all of the DS games that I play a lot are in it. All other games are in their cases in storage bins.

Aw, sorry about your cat. >^;_;^<
That's a really sweet way to keep his memory with you.

I guess I'm kind of doing the same except instead of a dish, it's a game case. I just worry about them rubbing against each other, etc...

I keep all my games in their original case. It's easier to find a case than a little cartridge.

A few years ago I purchased a black pouch. It holds my 3DS, cartridges and extra styluses. They're all sort of jumbled together in one pocket, but I haven't lost one yet. (Hopefully I won't regret saying that.)

My brother leaves them out of any case from time to time and they're still fine, so I think they are rather durable, but I still make sure to be careful with mine.

I just use the cases that the games come in, I don't have a ton of games anyway, I only have a few games, but what worries me is that's its SO hard to remove the cards from the cases I'm worried Im gonna snap them in half.

I have one of these cases that a friend gave to me because Amazon gave him an extra one!
This holds my entire 3DS game collection and then a few of my older DS games, so I carry this with me whenever I take my XL anywhere. It's super cheap and provides good protection! I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a storage solution.

The ones I play the most I keep in a 16 carrying case. But when I'm done with it or haven't started it yet, it stays in the box. Everything. Stays. With. It's. Box.

That's why I do for my old DS games that I haven't gotten around to selling to Gamestop.
All my 3DS game boxes are in a drawer! (Alphabetized too because I'm particular like that.)

You may already know this, but I didn't, so hope it helps: you can bend back the little tabs on the case that hold the cart in place. They are flexible and bendy, and they loosen up that way, but they'll still hold the game in there. I used to stress out about how hard it was to take the carts out too, until I figured that one out. lol

Hmm, ya I might get one of those. There are some on Amazon that are only $3-$5, so it's not the money that I'm worried about. Just that if you lose it, there goes all your games. Also, I'm just a nerdy DYIer, so I'm curious to see if anyone has anything like that going on.

I also keep all my game cases as everyone else said. And for games I'm done playing, they are great.

I keep the ones I'm not playing at the moment in one of those 16 card plastic boxes and I always keep the games I'm currently playing in 3DS case, it holds 8 and it's always full lol!

You could microwave a GBA cart and it'd work. You could freeze a DS cart and it'd run even faster, by almost ten nanoseconds. You could put a 3DS cart on a uranium desk and it'd... explode.

I'm very careful with my carts.
