Father's Day Carnation
So I just ordered a physical copy of ACNL for cycling, excessive time travel, etc. My current game is a downloaded version, so would anything happen to my town if I put the physical cartridge in and started a new town?

Yeah nothing will happen but it's better to mess with the game click then the 3ds one because if you mess with the 3ds it mess with both of the game do yeah use the game one
But nothing happens
I have 3 cardtrige and 1 download from eshop

Like they said, if you're gonna be a timelord, then you gotta be dloing it with the in-game clock instead of the 3ds clock, otherwise it'll mess with everything, including your dowenloaded copy.

I change my ds clock to TT a lot and haven't ever had anything go wrong. Then again I change the date back to the real date, and pay attention to the date Isabelle says when you load the game and if it's not right then I fix it before I start.

As everyone above has said, nothing will happen if you're careful. I have a digital copy of the game as well as a physical copy which I play on the same 3DS. The safest way to TT would be to use in in-game clock, that way you're only manipulating time on one of the copies, as opposed to if you used the system's clock, both copies of the game will be affected and you'd have to change the time back to the original date on the copy which you didn't intend to TT on with Isabelle before starting up.

Like everyone else said, be careful! Anytime I've seen posts about people losing their towns or their files being corrupted, it's because of a digital copy. I've seen plenty of people running both a digital copy and a cartridge copy on the same 3ds just fine, but data corruption is a real danger once you start doing this. Just be extra careful, like prostime said.

Y!kes I've had a bad experience with corrupted data in the past (losing my town of 1.5 years ;-; ). Is there a surefire method of prevention against this?

I'd like to continue beating the dead horse and tell you that you should change the in-game clock instead of the 3DS clock.

Use the in game clock. I have a digital copy/ cartridge copies on all my 3DS and have had no problems.
Some of the towns I TT for growing weeds or getting to a Sunday when I have high turnip prices.

With 2 copies sharing one 3DS the Activity Log of last time played wouldn't help. Make sure to write the date down that you last played if you want to take a break.
