Could someone explain this sites currency to me. I can't find an explanation about it and I'm curious. Like I see people selling items, Pokemon, etc and accepting bells as payment. How does all this work?

I'm VETTrainer and I'm brand NEW to Animal Crossing. I was trying to think of an interesting way to play the game and then I found this forum. I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I will be starting New Leaf tomorrow and I look forward to meeting lots of new friends.
