I'm starting to create roads for my town, but whenever I save new tiles my old work gets replaced. Is this supposed to happen? Is the only way to create new characters for every set of 10 unique tiles in my village?

Sprinkle is moving out on the 25th! I'm not looking for anything in particular (Villagers, bells, DLC), so please feel free to offer!
