So I guess my question would be, "Why, in animes, do the protagonists usually have to die? Is that seriously the only way to end a series?" If you get attached to a certain person (fan-wise of course) it can be a little depressing.

There are many ways people believe the world will end. However, every time in movies and shows, none of the average people are prepared for the worse. Within the realistic limits, assuming our world will be threatened by someone or something, how would you defend yourself? Make it realist, no...
