Hello, what does cataloguing mean?

I've just gone to a mystery island and the first villager I found was Kiki :) just who I wanted :)

I've also got Rocket and she needs to go!! 🤣🤣🤣

If I've got a plot waiting to be built now, can I go island hopping now to see if I can get someone I like? If I go to mystery islands, will the same villager keep showing up, or is it a random one each time?

Ah okay. I've got 4 villagers who I don't particularly like so I may get a good one one move in then I'll be able to get rid of one of the others :) I wanted a black cat and a grey cat as that's what I have at home but I have realised the grey cat is the most rare villager

I have Maple as an amiibo and I invited her to stay, she is at my campsite. I made her a log bench as requested and she turned me down :( I already placed a lot for her to move in. I don't want some rando moving in!!! Can I stop it, or is there a way to get her to change her mind?
