I never gave him anything, I never saw any other villagers interact with him or give him anything, and he was only on my island for a few days of in-game...

    I'm not quite sure what you mean by original, but if I assume it means if he naturally wants to move out, the answer is no. He asked to move out as a result of my time traveling. I know a decent amount of people don't like time traveling, so if this is the case, sorry if I potentially mislead you.
