This is actually fairly common. Just remember your game plan for your island and stick with it. Slow and steady! Don't get so caught up trying to compete that you end up with an island that looms nice but feels hollow because you focused too hard on keeping up with the Nooks and not on thr fun...

In previous save files I have gone hog wild with terraforming and turning the island into a perfectly polished little village....and then I end up hating it. You see all these great pictures of people with villages like that and then even if you get something comparable it can feel kind of...
