Secondary colors and whatever is complimentary to their main color are my go-tos. I'll pick out a bunch of them, gift them all, then wait and see which ones the villager ends up wearing on the regular.

I always go there to test out clothing on my villagers before I gift it to them. I'm very picky about color matching and seasonal outfits.

I usually just miss my villagers. But then I start weeding and looking at old decorated areas, and next thing I know I'm remodeling for the 5 billionth time.
