    "Unable to read game data"

I know someone already suggested this, and I did try it. But when it prompted me to insert the original gamecard for reading data, it claimed I hadn't inserted one. I just assumed that meant it was failing to read the data, so I gave up. People had suggested an avalanche of hacks availiable, but...

    "Unable to read game data"

The dream address was made after the update- Here's all the info I remember~ Mayor's name: BJ Town name: Gametown Modern town hall, modern police station, Imperial exterior for my home. That should be enough to zero out my town. If not, I can send pictures. Assuming your friend can...

    "Unable to read game data"

How do I get the files to someone? Is there a software that uploads it to a computer, or is there a reliable person I could mail it to, with assurance that it would be returned?

    "Unable to read game data"

I guess the problem isn't just in the mayor; I just tried to demolish the house of that new villager I made, and it prove incapable of doing so. Edit: Just tried to login as the new villager, and I couldn't do that either. It just gave me the same message as if I logged in as the mayor.

The mayor still isn't working out. It fails to load the town when I attempt to login as it. I'm trying to figure out "why", though.

    "Unable to read game data"

Update: Just tried to make a new villager, and it worked without fail. The town loaded fine, and it saved properly when I was done. ~This is a wonderful thing. I suppose this means the problem is just within the mayor's file.

    "Unable to read game data"

According to Nintendo, there's nothing that can be done. ~I believe otherwise. I recently chatted with someone who had the same problem years ago, but when the WB update came out, it was back to normal. What would happen if I were to uninstall it, then re-install it?

    "Unable to read game data"

So I selected import town, and it told me to insert the other cartridge. I did, and nothing happened; Just the usual main menu. So I went back to the Welcome Amiibo cartridge, and it searched for town data. ~The search came up empty. I then went back to the original cartridge, tried to load my...

    "Unable to read game data"

I'm going to purchase the game as soon as possible, and I'll send a reply once it comes in. Thank you all so much for your help. I hope this works.

    "Unable to read game data"

What's so special about the Welcome Amiibo version? Is it just the base game with the update, or something more? Why would there be a transfer option? I'm confused as to why someone outside of a damaged cartridge situation would buy the welcome amiibo version when they already have the game.

    "Unable to read game data"

So if I'm interpreting all of this correctly, I can buy a copy of ACNL off the E-shop, and I'll have the option to transfer my town?

    "Unable to read game data"

Everything's normal up until the "preparing your town" sequence starts. Then it loads for 'bout a second, and the "unable to read data" message appears. I'm then sent back to the main screen, where I see a new town. If I turn off my game and try again, I see my town again, and the cycle continues.
