Text all the way unless it's someone I've known in person for a long time. Only in rare cases have I voice chatted with people online, and it took a lot of willpower. I'm a shy lad what can I say.

Hmm... I'm not a huge movie person since I often prefer games when it comes to telling a story on a larger scale (the Persona series for example), but there are a fair share I do like. Not sure if I can categorize them into a single genre but I adore Studio Ghibli films and have a lot of fun...
