Policies on Hacking & Accessing Copyrighted Content

Illegal or gray-area content, such as sharing hacking instructions or methods to access copyrighted material, is not allowed on The Bell Tree. In addition, trading hacked Animal Crossing items is prohibited to help protect the game's collecting and trading aspects in the community.

Hacking Instructions

Providing instructions on how to hack computers, game consoles, or software is not allowed on The Bell Tree.

Accessing Copyrighted Content

Sharing links to, or explaining how or where to obtain, copyrighted content without authorization is not allowed.

Hacked Items in Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing items or Bells obtained through hacking or save editing may not be traded on The Bell Tree. A core part of Animal Crossing’s gameplay revolves around collecting, earning, customizing items, and playing online with others. Allowing hacked items would undermine this experience for community members who wish to play the game as intended. Even if you have modified your game, all items and Bells traded on the forum must be obtained through legitimate gameplay.

Examples of Not Allowed Content

  • Providing instructions about how to hack a video game console
  • Links or instructions to illegally download copyrighted games (ROMs)
  • Links to unauthorized streams of movies or shows
  • Trading items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that were created by hacking

Examples of Allowed Content

  • Using third-party software that allows online play after official networks have been shut down
  • Stating that you hacked a game or console
  • Stating that you use emulators to play games
