Island Restart Help

Hi all,
Hope you're all well.
I'm potentially looking at restating my island, but would like to keep some bits and pieces (namely wood, iron, bells and fruit).
I think the best way to do this is to leave it on another island and then collect once I restart.
Is there another way to do this or someone who can help with that?

You need to have a friend who you trust to hold onto your items for you. Unless if you want to do it by yourself without any help, you'll need a 2nd switch and 2nd copy of the game. Thats how I've been personally doing it for the most part.

Thats what I thought. I do have a second Switch (Switch Lite) but I can't really afford to buy the game again and set up the Ninetendo Online membership etc.

I was hoping to maybe find someone here to help me hold items.

I restarted and got Hamlet and Hazel!!!! Hmmmm.
