What tips would you give to someone considering cycling? Knowing what you know now if you cycle what would you do differently at setup of cycling thread/town?
Or opposite view, why would you not cycle..If you had a spare cart would you still choose to cycle or use it for something else?

I kind of do cycle - only I take my time with it. I let villagers go after getting their pictures which has taken anywhere from a month to almost a year.

I do it because I like the variety.

I had thought as an alternative of doing a town to try to have every animal to the point of getting their picture, your post made me think that both could be done they wouldn't be original though but after picture could then be cycled out or given and still be a playtown interesting idea.

I see what you mean. I guess I kind of see New Leaf now as something where people make "perfect" towns and then stop playing. My townies aren't original by any means but I kind of like that. I always think if someone wants an original catchphrase or shirt that you can report that villager to Isabelle in town hall and she'll reset them. Likewise you can send them their original furniture and they'll put it in their house.

Yes, I after 2 years completed my dream villagers but don't plan to stop playing, but there is something fun about having an old fashioned town where you get to experience all the villagers and then your right when they leave someone would want them, originality isn't a huge deal if it isn't a pure cycle town. If it was then of course. But having my dream villagers there are so many to experience and have a town that doesn't have the dream perfection goal but is for play. Pure cycling may have it's fun parts as well but it may be nice to have that one town where it is just like when it first came out, no manipulating villagers I am happy to have my dream towns but it's not the same as when I first started and your right after picture level could go until had all villagers like a never ending town as there are 333 villagers the get them homes after...and you are right I get wanting original dreams but your right it is t too hard to get them back to house stuff and shirts if you try. I haven't decided though but thanks for the POV.

No worries :) It's always interesting to hear how others play the game.

that if you make a cycling thread you're under absolutely no obligation to fulfil the desires of people on this thread, and always make sure that you do more important stuff (like your homework or chores) before you dedicate hours on end cycling to provide a free service to more or less strangers

just remember it's a hobby (I know a few people that have built up so much stress just so they can provide the service we're speaking of).

if you meant just general cycling in your own town for your own desire, then patience is the key! when I played new leaf I remember it took me over 700 resets just to get Filbert

Tips for cycling:
  • Must talk to a Villager until they stop giving you tutorial advice - aka "how to take a picture" "did you check the billboard" /etc. - Once that's done, villagers will then be able to move/ping you
  • Have 100% town approval rating before anyone moves out
  • Campsite helps, especially if you make it right next to your house
  • This cycling guide - If you want to obtain pictures for your Villagers. I recommend TT-ing during April 1st.
  • When you start a new town, you can reset to obtain specific villagers. (Of course it can take some time) You'll always have one of each personality as your first 9* edit
  • Creating a new character is always helpful if you want to see who is moving/moving in (if you care of course)
  • Buying everything in re-tail and putting up flowers for 99,999 will help prevent Villagers from buying random crap + keeping them original (again, if that matters to you)
  • Beautiful Ordinance - weeds/flowers can help bring in extra bells (if you decide to sell the services/etc)
  • REMEMBERING/WRITING DOWN DATES! Especially if you have more than one cycling town!!!!

There's probably more I could list, I'm just getting lazy. I've cycled forever now, so if you need any help/assistance feel free to message me 8)
