What are Bells?
Bells (also called TBT Bells or simply TBT) are a virtual forum currency used exclusively on The Bell Tree. You can use Bells to buy items and upgrades from the Shop (e.g., collectibles, username changes, colored user titles, and more), and trade with other members in the TBT Marketplace.
What are the Shop and ABD, and how do I access them?
The Shop is a place to use TBT Bells (or other forum currency) to buy collectibles or other forum items.
The ABD is named after the Animal Crossing in-game item, the Automatic Bell Dispenser. It is a storage system for your Bells. You can store your Bells in your Wallet or in the ABD. The Bells in your Wallet are visible to everyone on the forum. The Bells in your ABD are visible only to you. You can freely transfer your Bells between your Wallet and ABD. There are no other benefits to this system.
To access these features, use the brown navigation bar beneath the forum banner. Click on the Shop icon on the right side of the navigation bar to bring up a dropdown menu.
On the dropdown menu, click Shop or ABD to access these features.
How do I earn Bells?
You can earn Bells in several ways:
- Posting: Earn Bells by making posts and interacting with the forums. Longer posts mean more Bells! But remember, don’t make pointless posts just to get more Bells. Note: Not all boards and threads give Bells, such as the Introduction Board and The Basement.
- Contests & Giveaways: TBT Staff sometimes offer Bells as prizes during forum events. Members occasionally hold contests or giveaways with Bells as prizes in the TBT Marketplace.
- Trading Collectibles: You can sell your forum collectibles for TBT Bells in the TBT Marketplace.
- In-game Items and Services: Using the Nook's Cranny board, you can open an in-game shop offering items, services, or villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, as long as they are legitimate. People pay for these items and services in TBT Bells.
What can I buy in the Shop?
- Username Change: Change your username on The Bell Tree.
- User Title Color Change: See the little text under your username next to your posts? That's called your User Title! With this upgrade, you can change the color of that user title. Each color requires its own User Title Color Change item.
- Avatar Animation: Upload animated GIFs for your avatar/profile picture.
- Envelopes: Increase the number of people you can direct message at once!
- Thread Title Styles: It adds a colored decoration to your chosen thread title in Trading or Island Journal boards. This item expires after 7 days.
- Collectibles: Buy a little vanity item to display under your avatar! They serve no purpose other than to look lovely, but you can also gift them to other members as a present! The items you can regularly find in the Shop are flowers, Tasty Cake, birthstones, and mailboxes!
